Job Description

Job Summary:


The Commis Chef is an

entry-level position responsible for assisting senior chefs in food preparation

and ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role is ideal for

individuals passionate about cooking and eager to develop their culinary skills.

The Commis Chef must follow kitchen hygiene standards, maintain ingredient

quality, and efficiently support the team in daily operations.


Key

Responsibilities:


1.      Food Preparation & Cooking:


·        

Assist in preparing ingredients (chopping vegetables,

marinating meats, making sauces, etc.).

·        

Follow recipes and instructions given by senior chefs.

·        

Support the Chef de Partie in preparing dishes during

service hours.

·        

Maintain food quality and presentation standards.

·        

Ensure that food is stored, handled, and prepared safely.


2. Kitchen Operations & Support:


·        

Keep the workstation clean and organized at all times.

·        

Assist in stock rotation and ingredient management to

minimize waste.

·        

Monitor portion sizes and assist in plating dishes.

·        

Handle kitchen equipment safely and report any issues.



3. Hygiene & Safety Compliance:


·        

Follow all food hygiene and safety regulations (HACCP

standards).

·        

Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including storage

areas and refrigerators.

·        

Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including proper

knife handling.


4. Learning & Development:


·        

Be open to learning from senior chefs and continuously

improve skills.

·        

Participate in training programs and kitchen briefings.

·        

Gain knowledge about different cooking techniques and

ingredients.


Qualifications

& Skills:


·        

Previous kitchen experience is a plus but not required

(training will be provided).

·        

Passion for cooking and a willingness to learn.

·        

Basic knowledge of food preparation and hygiene

standards.

·        

Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced

environment.

·        

Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude.

·        

Good time management and organizational skills.
