Job Description

Job Purpose:


Are you ready to craft the future of healthcare? As a Policy & Government Affairs Manager at AstraZeneca, you will develop and implement strategies to influence patients' paths and ensure alignment with our corporate priorities. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to build impactful public affairs projects and strategic policy initiatives that support patient access. The position entails interacting with key partners, conducting research, and establishing networks to share standard processes in the legislative, regulatory, and public policy arenas.


Key Areas of Responsibility:


  • Develop strategies for public policy and government affairs to influence patient pathways while aligning therapeutical area (TA) priorities with AstraZeneca's corporate affairs, market access, and business objectives.
  • Supervise and analyze healthcare legislation, regulations, and policy changes, identifying gaps and complexities in managed markets or public policies.
  • Implement advocacy strategies to influence healthcare policy and engage key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry partners, and community organizations.
  • Prepare policy materials (reports, position papers, presentations) to communicate recommendations optimally to internal and external audiences.
  • Advocate for interpersonal interests by building relationships with government officials and legislative staff, participating in coalitions, and ensuring compliance with lobbying regulations.
  • Track progress of relevant legislation and regulations affecting AstraZeneca while collaborating with cross-functional teams to align strategies.
  • Lead corporate communications projects, serving as a point of contact for patient advocacy groups and encouraging positive relationships.
  • Oversee advocacy programs passionate about disease awareness, diagnosis, access to care, and policy initiatives.

Minimum Criteria and Competencies:


Education


Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, healthcare, life science, Pharmaceutical, or related field.


Experience


  • 5+ years of experience in public policy, government affairs, or advocacy within the healthcare sector.
  • Governmental and Ministry experience is a plus.

  • Analytical and research skills to interpret sophisticated legislation and regulations.
  • Communication expertise, including drafting policy documents and delivering presentations.
  • Partner engagement, with proven track record to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Healthcare policy knowledge, covering systems, regulations, and public health issues.
  • Strategic individual who excels at solving problems and navigating ambiguity.
  • Great teammate and independent worker, adaptable to changing environments.
  • Organizational and detail-oriented skills, ensuring efficiency in work processes.
  • Proficiency in new and social media platforms for strategic outreach.
  • Ambitious mindset, with curiosity to connect ideas and opportunities.
  • Good English Command is a high asset
