Your future team:
AIG Energy and Construction has an opportunity for a Senior Underwriting Specialist to launch a business specializing in underwriting quota share & excess of loss layered construction single projects for Energy. The focus will be on Erection All-Risk (EAR) specifically for the Energy occupancies – Oil & Petrochemicals, Chemicals, Power Generation, and Mining. The Senior Underwriting Specialist is expected to work independently to successfully manage their book of business and execute the profitability strategy for territory’s portfolio. A Senior Underwriting Specialist must be able to illustrate sufficient technical analysis and underwriting acumen combined with marketing and sales skills to meet underwriting goals (i.e., achieve growth targets and maintain overall profitability). In addition, the ability to interface with AIG regions and the Global Construction practice is required.
Your contribution at AIG:
As a senior underwriter on the Builders Risk team, you are respected for your technical expertise and ability to oversee complex projects and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership of key outcomes.
• Produce, underwrite, manage, and service a profitable book of business for the EMEA Energy EAR business.
• Utilize underwriter authority in accordance with the published underwriting guidelines.
• Handle a portfolio of single-project businesses made up of complex risks.
• Ability to seek out and partner with internal/external stakeholders in securing new profitable business.
• Manage and develop effective producer and client relationships throughout assigned territory.
• Work alongside business development colleagues to effectively maximize our distribution partner network.
• Effectively negotiate and secure policy terms that align with the company directives, utilizing product and service offerings to bring value to the client.
• Develop and manage underwriting strategies for prospects within their portfolio of accounts, including knowledge of the current penetration by product, and specific plans to appropriately manage capacity.
• Provide direction and support to less experienced underwriters on new and in-force business.
• Proactively foster and develop positive relationships with key customers.
• Execute established strategy and work collaboratively with other aligned business functions, including claims, actuarial, engineering, operations, analytics, legal, and marketing.
• Make internal and external presentations as assigned and deemed necessary.

• Strong underwriting experience in Builders Risk for Energy Construction
•College graduate with Engineering degree.
•Underwriting experience (preferable Energy Property / CAR)
• Extensive knowledge of Builders Risk property forms and Energy Construction manuscript wordings
• Strong relationships with brokerage partners
• Sound technical knowledge of Energy classes of business and industry trends and drivers
• Knowledge of the market, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment making quick decisions while adhering to a sound underwriting discipline
• Outcome focused, self-motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic
• Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
