UAE Energy Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer to join its office in
Abu Dhabi within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.
Mission
Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer as part of Operation and Maintenance Department which provides services to large scale Oil & Gas Projects. Job includes plant maintainability and accessibility analysis, mechanical handling assessment and attending specific project design reviews. Scope of the work involves activities ranging from providing plant layout design solutions to ensure equipment maintainability and evaluating the detailed design of components subject to maintenance. Mechanical Handling Engineer is to make sure that the project detailed design is safe and sound from an operation and maintenance point of view, complies with the international standards and meet the requirements arising from contract and technical specification therein referred to.
In performing his job, the Mechanical Handling Engineer is liaising with client representatives, suppliers and project team. Mechanical Handling Engineer regularly reports to the lead maintenance engineer the status of the mechanical handling assessment, highlighting areas of concern.
Key Accountabilities
Supporting Plant Design and Layout
- Assist in supporting plant design and layout to ensure accessibility and maintainability requirements are met.
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer to review project specifications and plot plans for mechanical handling needs.
Provide expertise in integrating mechanical handling considerations into the design process.
Identifying Maintenance Scenarios
- Assist in identifying maintenance scenarios for equipment/items subject to maintenance.
- Support the selection of suitable handling procedures for maintenance scenarios.
- Collaborate with the Principal Engineer to ensure maintenance tasks can be accomplished effectively.
Assessing Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability
- Support the Principal Engineer in assessing reliability, availability, and maintainability outputs.
- Assist in optimizing mean time to repair and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Contribute to enhancing reliability and availability through efficient mechanical handling procedures.
Developing Lifting and Staging Methods
- Contribute to the development of lifting and staging methods for maintenance tasks.
- Assist in addressing heavy lifting requirements with innovative solutions.
- Ensure safety and efficiency in lifting and staging operations under the guidance of the Principal Engineer.
Gathering Documentation
- Assist in gathering required documentation from the project team and vendors.
- Support the collection and monitoring of technical documentation related to maintainability and mechanical handling.
- Ensure documentation is organized and accessible for decision-making processes.
Reviewing Equipment and Project Documentation
- Participate in the review of equipment General Arrangement Drawings (GADs) and project specifications.
- Assist in evaluating plot plans and project 3D models for mechanical handling implications.
- Collaborate with vendors under the guidance of the Principal Engineer to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Space Identification and Sizing
- Support the identification and sizing of space for mechanical handling activities.
- Assist in determining space requirements for specific tasks, such as tube bundle extraction and component replacement.
- Contribute to reserving space for maintenance works and optimizing laydown areas.
Staging and Laydown Area Management
- Assist in identifying and sizing staging and laydown areas for maintenance operations.
- Ensure staging areas are equipped and strategically located.
- Support the optimization of laydown areas to minimize disruption to plant operations.
Workshop Attendance and Follow-Up
- Attend plot plan design review workshops to provide input on mechanical handling requirements.
- Participate in 3D model design review workshops to ensure mechanical handling considerations are addressed.
- Assist in following up on open tags and resolving mechanical handling-related issues.
Documentation Preparation
- Support the preparation of documentation for meetings with stakeholders.
- Contribute to compiling reports on mechanical handling strategies and recommendations.
- Assist in communicating effectively with stakeholders regarding the importance of mechanical handling in project success.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mechanical handling engineering within the engineering consulting or related industry.
Proficiency in oil & gas plant related design documentation and drawings, which may include: 3D model, plot plan, P&IDs, PFDs, SLDs, F&G layout, data sheets, vendor manuals, procedures, etc.
Understanding of plant design, layout, and maintenance principles.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
