AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Technical Director for our MEP division. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge, proven leadership skills, and a strong background in business development and winning work. This role requires a dynamic individual with at least 15+ years of post-graduate experience in leading multidisciplinary MEP teams.  This role is a strategic hire with the intent of form a solid succession plan where progression to Regional Leadership is expected within the next 3 year business cycle, if not sooner.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership:


  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic vision for the MEP department.


  • Be instrumental in the alignment of departmental goals with the overall business strategy.


  • Support the fostering of a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.


Technical Expertise:


  • Demonstrable track record of technical achievement and client satisfaction within the MEP industry


  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on MEP projects while ensuring the highest standards of technical quality and compliance with industry regulations.


  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in MEP technologies and practices.


  • Apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions.


Business Development:


  • Develop skills in the identification and pursuit of new business opportunities to expand the MEP portfolio.


  • With the team, share leadership in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects.


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.


Project Management:


  • Oversee the successful delivery of MEP projects from inception to completion.


  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively.


  • Commercial awareness with an understanding and ability to administer Change Control.


  • Ensure client satisfaction and project profitability.


Team Leadership:


  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of MEP engineers and designers.


  • Promote professional development and continuous learning within the team.


  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in a Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.  A Master's degree and/or Chartered Status is preferred.


  • Minimum of 15 years of post-graduate experience in MEP engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.


  • A growing track record in business development and winning work.


  • Ademonstrable understanding of all MEP and related building services design processes.


  • Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems and industry standards.


  • Recognition and understanding of related engineering and architectural disciplines with a demonstrable skill in multidisciplinary coordination.


  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to lead and inspire a diverse multidisciplinary MEP team.


  • The ability to think laterally and possess a sound understanding of engineering principles with the ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.


  • The ability to build and develop relationships, both internally and externally.
