Black & Grey HR is hiring for a renowned University in the UAE. Our client is hiring a Sustainability Officer, who will lead the university’s efforts to create and maintain environmentally sustainable practices and policies across all aspects of campus life. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to reduce the university’s environmental footprint, fostering a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, and staff, and ensuring compliance with sustainability regulations and standards.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives and programs that align with the university’s strategic goals and reduce the institution’s environmental impact.

- Work closely with departments such as Facilities, Procurement, and Academic Affairs to integrate sustainability into university operations, infrastructure, and curriculum.

- Lead the development of campus-wide sustainability policies, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations.

- Engage with students, faculty, and staff to promote sustainability awareness through workshops, events, campaigns, and communication channels.

- Manage sustainability certification efforts, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) or other relevant standards for university buildings and projects.

- Identify and pursue funding opportunities and grants for sustainability projects, in collaboration with university leadership and external partners.

- Stay informed on the latest sustainability trends, technologies, and practices and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.


Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

- 1-3 years of experience in sustainability management, environmental policy, or related roles, preferably in a higher education or large institution setting.

- Experience in developing and implementing sustainability programs and initiatives.

- Familiarity with environmental regulations, certifications (e.g., LEED), and reporting standards.

- Strong understanding of sustainability principles, environmental policies, and resource conservation practices.

- Ability to analyse data, track sustainability metrics, and prepare detailed reports.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
