Speech and Language Therapist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at GEMS Metropole Motor City, Dubai, starting in March 2025. The successful candidate will be a skilled professional with clinical experience, passionate about providing high-quality support in a dynamic and inclusive school environment.
As a Speech and Language Therapist at GEMS Metropole, you will primarily focus on delivering clinical support within the Inclusion Department, working with students across multiple year groups. Your key responsibilities will include assessing and supporting students with a range of speech and language difficulties, implementing tailored intervention programmes, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals. This role does not require direct involvement in teaching and learning.
The ideal candidate will have:
A solid and demonstrable background in both clinical and school-based settings, with a minimum of 5 years of experience, including at least 2 years in an inclusion or SEN context. A degree in Speech and Language Sciences, with relevant qualifications such as a Masters or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent along with being eligible or holding a DHA license . Proven clinical experience in supporting children with speech, language, and communication needs, particularly within a paediatric or school environment. Experience using evidence-based approaches such as PECS, Makaton, Colourful Semantics, AAC, SCERTS, and other relevant speech and language assessment tools. The ability to work independently and manage caseloads effectively, delivering tailored interventions and assessments. A commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging environment for students with diverse needs. The ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals, parents, and school staff to ensure appropriate support for each student.
A valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist in Dubai.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical assessments and interventions for students with speech and language difficulties, including articulation and communication challenges. Implement and monitor evidence-based speech and language programmes, such as PECS, Makaton, Colourful Semantics, AAC, SCERTS, and articulation strategies and techniques. Work closely with teachers, parents, and other specialists to support the development of individualised education plans (IEPs) for students with communication needs. Offer guidance and training to school staff on speech and language strategies and best practices, including articulation techniques. Support students with communication, language development, social interaction, and articulation challenges, focusing on their clinical and therapeutic needs. Regularly monitor and assess progress, adjusting intervention strategies as necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes for each student. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure integrated, holistic support for students across all areas of development.
Skills
Extensive clinical experience in assessing and treating speech and language difficulties, including articulation issues, in children, alongside school-based experience. Familiarity with using speech and language tools such as PECS, Makaton, Colourful Semantics, AAC, SCERTS, and other relevant assessment methods. Fluency in both Arabic and English is highly desirable, supporting communication within our diverse student community. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues. A proactive, self-driven approach to delivering high-quality care, with the ability to manage caseloads independently. A commitment to professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest clinical practices and assessment tools.
