The role:
STARZPLAY is seeking a dynamic and skilled Senior Revenue Accountant to join our finance team in UAE. The senior revenue accountant is responsible for revenue accounting and reporting in line with IFRS, contracts management, partner subscription reporting, reconciliation of revenue accounts. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Finance Controller and the team.
This role requires a deep understanding of contracts of the company and recognizing revenue in line with principles of IFRS. Ensuring accuracy of revenue accounting and reporting, co-ordinate with external partners and internal stakeholders, month-end closing, provide insights for financial decision-making, maintaining strong partner relationships. Reconciling the reports and working closing with AR accountant on invoicing and collection.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Revenue Recognition and Reporting:
• Accounting revenue for subscription, advertising, and licensing revenue streams (D2C,B2B2C,B2B and advertising contracts) and the corresponding revenue share
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (IFRS-15), tax regulations and recognizing revenue in line with contracts
• Prepare revenue and revenue share-related journal entries and reconciliations
• Monitor and analyze revenue and subscribers’ trends and variances
• Prepare monthly revenue report for closing and review with management
• Maintain summary of revenue contracts and update changes
• Responsible for partner subscriber reporting
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Billing, and Tech) to capture necessary data for month-end close
2. Financial Analysis and Reporting:
• Assist in the preparation of revenue budget and forecasting
• Prepare cash flow inflow projections.
• Analyze AR data to identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Provide insights and recommendations to VP Finance/CFO based on AR performance and metrics.
3. Internal Controls and Compliance:
• Ensure strong internal controls over revenue recognition and reporting processes.
• Assist with internal and external audits related to revenue.
• Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations and implement necessary updates to policies and procedures.
4. System and Process Improvement:
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of revenue accounting.
• Provide training and guidance to junior team members and other departments on revenue-related matters.
5. Accounts Receivable Management:
• Oversee the entire AR process, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation.
• Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all AR transactions.
• Develop and implement AR policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualification, Skills & Knowledge:
• Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of work experience (part qualified with relevant revenue related experience)
• Minimum 5 years work experience; additional articleship experience will be an added advantage
• Prior experience working as revenue accountant preferably from subscription industry Understanding of IFRS accounting standards, regional taxation (VAT, WHT) and other corporate regulations
• Prior experience in working with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Navision or Dynamics or similar software
• Advanced skills in MS Office especially MS Excel
• Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of revenue accounting standards and to make well-reasoned and timely decisions.
• Excellent attention to detail, committed, bright, numerate and enthusiastic.
• Team player with a good work ethic who thrives in a multi-tasking, deadline driven environment.
• Good communicator who is comfortable with stakeholders at all levels in the organization
• Co-ordination with internal and external stakeholders of the business
