Role: Senior Manager - Shari'a Consultations
Location: Abu Dhabi                           
Role Purpose:
To assess the continuity and conformity high level of Shari’a compliance throughout the Shari’a consultations, as guided by HSA and ISSC. 
    
Key Accountabilities of the role      
 

• Responding to business inquiries relating to Shari’a matters in general and providing proper Shari’a consultations under the supervision of the head of Shari’a Consultations Department, in light of HSA and ISSC resolutions.
• Providing, under the supervision of the Head of Shari’a Consultations Department, Shari’a consultations and support on wide-range of Shari’a issues, including structuring new deals, restructuring default cases, rectify and preventing Shari’a related operational errors, covering non-Shari’a compliance risk and providing general Shari’a advices on numerous product and transaction related issues, as well as other tasks. 
• Working, under the supervision of the Head of Shari’a Consultations Department, with WBG from the initial phases of providing propre Shari’a structure until the execution of the transactions. The responsibility includes reviewing non-standard documents, covering non-Shari’a compliance risk and liaising, coordinating with external law firms and Shari’a teams of other banks, and ensuring that the transaction is Shari’a compliant in general, and more specifically from the perspective of HSA and ISSC.
• To review the new (or updated) policies and manuals, and incorporate the needed Shari’a controls, and subsequently provide the approval, in light of ISSC’s resolutions. 
• To follow up the implementation of the circulated Shari’a resolutions.
• To raise to Head of Shari’a Consultations Department any new Shari’a issues that need his, Global Head of Shari’a or ISSC view/approval.
• Monitoring and guiding the reporting team (if any). This includes meeting with each one of the team whenever it is required to discuss consultations received requests, findings, and providing solutions for the request.
• Helping in increase the knowledge of the reporting team (if any) by explaining the various options regarding the products, structuring, restructuring and non-Shari’a compliance risk.
• Take an initiative to enhance Shari’a consultation approach to ensure accuracy and consistency of Shari’a consultations provided. 

Results Required: 

• Providing professional support and advice to the Head of Shari’a Consultations Department as required.
• Providing proactive Shari’a assistance and advice on various Shari’a issues.
• Managing the reporting team (if any) to reach the goals of Shari’a Consultations Department and reach the goals of each member of the reporting team.
• Assessing and advising effectively, within the scope of the responsibilities, to minimize and control non-Shari’a compliance risk to ADIB group and ensuring that the system, controls and processes are appropriate and relevant.
   

Specialist Skills / Technical Knowledge Required for this role:
 

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Shari’a (or Shari’a and Law).
• Strong Shari’a ability to structure corporate deals and review their documents from Shari’a prospective.
• Ability to deal with legal issues related to documentation and draft legal documents. 
• Strong ability to communicate and explain the structures and discuss the Shari’a comments on the documentation.
• Strong knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a Standards and HSA-CBUAE Resolutions. 
• Listening skills (able to listen to colleagues and customers).
• Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. 

Previous experience required (if any):     

• 9+ Years of Shari’a experience in Shari’a Consultations in Islamic banks.
