Senior Engineer – Landscaping & Irrigation
Job Summary:
The Landscaping and Irrigation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining landscaping and irrigation. This role involves ensuring the sustainability, efficiency, and aesthetic appeal of landscapes while optimizing water usage through effective irrigation techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Planning:
• Develop landscape and irrigation designs and conduct detailed design reviews and approvals based on project requirements and environmental factors.
• Select appropriate plant species, soil types, and irrigation methods for efficient water use.
• Prepare detailed CAD drawings, layouts, and specifications for landscaping and irrigation projects.
• Assess site conditions, including soil analysis, climate, and topography, to ensure optimal landscape performance.
Installation & Implementation:
• Oversee the installation of irrigation systems, including drip irrigation, sprinklers, and other water-efficient solutions.
• Supervise landscape construction activities such as grading, planting, paving, and drainage.
• Coordinate with contractors, architects, and project managers to ensure compliance with design plans and safety regulations.
• Ensure proper installation of pumps, controllers, and sensors for automated irrigation systems.
Maintenance & Sustainability:
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems for efficiency, preventing water waste.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues related to irrigation equipment, pipelines, and valves.
• Implement sustainable landscaping practices such as rainwater harvesting and xeriscaping.
• Develop maintenance schedules for plant health, soil fertility, and system upkeep.
Project Management & Compliance:
• Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and material specifications for landscaping and irrigation projects.
• Ensure projects comply with local regulations, environmental laws, and industry best practices.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to maintain quality and adherence to project timelines.
• Provide technical support and training to clients or maintenance staff on irrigation system operation.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
• Proven experience in landscape and irrigation system design, installation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and other landscape design software.
• Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, plant care, soil management, and water conservation techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with local and international landscaping and irrigation standards.
Work Environment:
• Field and office work, with site visits required for inspections and project supervision.
• May involve working in various weather conditions and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
