Senior Gulf Investment Correspondent - Reuters
We envisage the successful candidate being based in Dubai, UAE.
Reuters is seeking an ambitious and enterprising investment correspondent based in Dubai to deliver agenda-setting coverage of sovereign wealth funds and to report on a range of finance and business stories across the Gulf.
We're looking for someone with the skill, experience and determination to break exclusives in the region, showing initiative to act swiftly when news breaks and digging deep for well-researched and insightful stories that move the dial.
The region offers huge potential for a reporter with energy and enthusiasm, and who is ready to travel when required, to cover the investment forays of regional economic powerhouse Saudi Arabia, gas giant Qatar and global business hubs in the UAE, alongside other wealthy Gulf states. Reuters needs a journalist who will keep us ahead in chronicling how the nations compete in spending abroad while also diversifying their revenue streams, from building financial centres to creating world-leading AI hubs and bringing global sporting events to the Gulf.
This exciting role requires the skill to cultivate sources inside sovereign wealth funds, which are often led by members of the region’s ruling elite, and the ability to build the trust of their advisers and the financiers who want to deploy these pools of wealth. The job demands a global outlook and readiness to collaborate with colleagues across time zones. It also requires an understanding of how businesses work in a region that hosts growing financial centres and hubs for some of the world’s biggest airlines.
The candidate will need to be flexible and ready to work unsociable hours on occasion. They will also have the resolve to overcome road bumps to bullet-proof stories for publication. But the role comes with the reward of working with a team spanning the globe and writing for an audience of global players and top international executives looking to Reuters for investment guidance.
