Geological Studies
Plan and drive exploration geological studies, specifically focused on
the update of the conventional portfolio, and tight and deep oil & gas
reservoir play maturation. This includes well log interpretations in close
cooperation with the Petrophysicists, well log correlations, preparation of
regional reservoir property maps, play maps, prospect maps and other maps,
regional play evaluations, prospect ranking and maturation studies, basin
analysis and geochemical studies, exploration well proposals, proposals for
snapshots, volumetric assessments, etc., all in full cooperation with other
disciplines and integrating all petroleum engineering, geological and well
data.
Propose and justify data gathering activities such as the acquisition of
cores, pressure measurements and wireline logs in exploration wells and
snapshots or seismic or other geophysical data.This includes proposals for deepening of development wells to explore
the hydrocarbon potential of deeper horizons and tight oil reservoirs.
Define contracted conventional and special core analysis related to
reservoir geology. This includes defining scope of the analysis requirements,
preparing specifications, evaluating bids and recommending final award and
contract features as assigned.
Ensure contractors’ compliance with contract terms and schedules and
monitors progress and performance through regular activity reports.
Liaise with suppliers of geological software, staying up-to-date with the
latest software developments and new technologies which are of potential value
to the Unit and to attend conferences, seminars and to review technical
periodicals.
Develop regular management reports such as the weekly highlights, weekly
action points, daily exploration well drilling reports, etc.
Recommend the acquisition of new software and hardware related to
exploration geology. Participate in the preparation of justifications for these
acquisitions.
Geological Prognosis
& Well Programs
Prepare geological prognosis and ensure well programs for drilling from
'spud in' stage to final completion are in line with the Company's objectives
and carries out regular follow-up to ensure these are implemented effectively.
Plan and supervise the execution to evaluate full field potential.
Coordinate well block research and evaluation, supervise geological operations
to collection data in order to build up a full picture of each well, its
potential and to carry out such analysis. Compile studies, analyze and develop
reports presenting a full analytical picture of all areas of the filed.
Coordinate data basis for Geological & Geophysical studies to enhance
understanding of exploration prospects. Plan and lead highly specialized
studies; prepare scope of work; recommend assignment of work to Company or
consultant specialists; participate and monitor and follow up on such studies
ensuring alignment with approved scope of work.
Contribute to develop Company's short and long term exploration plans and
programs.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of comprehensive geological
information for well programme preparation from 'spudding in' to the completion
of all well activities including, incorporate tools required to geo-steering
and monitors wells while being drilled, predict target depths (i.e. coring,
casing/liner, logging and landing and total depths), compiling geological data
sheet, well profile and drilling progress chart for each well.
Co-ordinate and supervise coring and logging operations including
mobilization of coring and mud logging crew and equipment. Ensure through
company drilling representatives and service contractor's personnel that the
geological prognosis and well objectives are fully implemented and completed.
Prepares geological prognosis and identifies geological uncertainties.
Participates in Well planning considerable judgment in preparing geological
drilling programs
Supervision
Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to
meet functional objectives.
Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to
become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
Budgets
Provide input for preparation of the functional budgets and assist in the
implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section
objectives.
Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective
performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Implement approved Department policies, processes, systems, standards and
procedures in order to support execution of the Department work programs in
line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management
Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for
the function in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and
efficiency of operational processes.
Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in
pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to
define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and
applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international
standards, best practices and client Code of Practices.
Reports
Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company
Management.
