The role:
STARZPLAY is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Dubai office. As a Senior Accountant for the Group, you will play a critical role in managing the Group’s operational finance while working closely with Senior Finance Manager and the team. Your attention to detail, organization, and financial expertise will contribute to the efficient functioning of our financial operations.
Job Responsibilities:
1.Payments processing:
•Processing payments for the group after obtaining necessary approval as per the company policy
•Co-ordinating with payable accountant and working closely with the team and providing guidance
•Maintaining and reporting AP aging and schedules
•Vendor co-ordination and communication
2.Treasury management:
•Reporting cash and bank balances
•Providing inputs for cashflow forecast
•Reconciling bank, cash and credit card balances
3.Content tool (Rightsline-RL):
•Updating content deals information in RL
•Ensuring correct amortization of license fee
•Updating invoice and payment information on RL
•Co-ordinating with content team
4.Month-end closing and reporting:
•Cash and bank reconciliation
•Update FX rates in the portal
•Accounting and maintaining prepayments, accruals, PPE and intercompany schedules
•Prepare cost variance analysis by department and reviewing with the department heads before closing
5.Tax and compliance:
•Prepare and file monthly VAT return
•Assist in corporate tax implementation
•ESR compliance and obtain Tax Residency certificates
6.Others:
•Support in audit, budgeting and forecasting process
•Adhoc responsibilities as delegated by the manager
•Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial regulations in all processes.
•Maintain organized and accurate records and documentation of all transactions.
•Identify opportunities to improve AP processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs.
•Recommend and implement process enhancements or automation when feasible.
Qualifications and requirements:
•Qualified or semi-qualified accountant (CA, CMA, ACCA, etc.) with relevant work experience
•Minimum 5 years work experience; additional articleship experience will be an added advantage
•Understanding of IFRS accounting standards, regional taxation (VAT, WHT, CT) and other corporate regulations
•Prior experience in working with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Navision or Dynamics or similar software
•Advanced skills in MS Office especially MS Excel
•Good communicator who is comfortable with stakeholders at all levels in the organization
•Co-ordination with internal and external stakeholders of the business
