Position Title: Safety Officer Reports to Head of Safety

Job Purpose
The Safety Officer is responsible in assisting Head of Safety in setting up and maintenance of world class safety standards. To comply with SMS Manual and all laid down SOPs and GCAA regulations to achieve effective Safety Management System.
Functional Accountabilities
Area of Contribution
1- Financial
Key Activities: Be aware of department budgetary needs and efficient resource management to achieve departmental budgetary objectives.
2- Process
Key Activities:
Preliminary Investigations of Incident/ Accidents Safety Oversight Management Random Turnaround Audits DSR observations and follow up with concerned agencies Conceive, Create & implement Safety workshops. Concept, Create, Design, and circulation of Safety Posters. Conduct Toolbox talks to enhancement of Safety Culture. Assisting to maintain Airport Risk Register/ Safety Performance Indicators and Targets Inspection of all visual aids and surface conditions with a safety perspective. Monitor all airside works on a daily basis for safety compliance. Assist Head of Safety by performing routine safety activities in the airport as envisaged in ICAO Doc 9859 and GCAA CARs. Assist in implementation of Safety Management System Manual. To ensure compliance of all safety rules and regulations by all concerned airport operators. Conducting Apron Ground Safety Committee Meetings Assists Head of Safety for conducting Safety Action Group/ Local Runway Safety Team/ Safety Review Board Assists Head of Safety through all aspects of the organisations SMS, including: o Makes verbal and written reports and records and maintains data on appropriate forms/ logs/ computer files.
o Takes down minutes of all aerodrome committee meetings and puts up typed drafts for Head of Safety's approval.
o Arrangements for safety meetings including invitations, agenda points and
maintenance of minutes of all meetings.
o Keeps tracks of all follow-up actions required and deadlines for action completion.
o Collects data of various nature pertinent to safety of airside operations, performs basic Statistical Analysis using tools like MS Excel/ Access and trend projection.
o Assists in management of flight safety feedback programme.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills
Qualifications:
1- Educational Qualifications
Graduate and Fluent in the English language (both spoken and written). Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Prior experience with Airport is an added advantage
2- Professional Qualifications
The job holder should have a working knowledge of Safety Management System and best practice including some or all of the following:
ICAO & GCAA Regulations [having knowledge of GCAA CARs, will be an added advantage. Ground handling safety, ACI and IATA Aerodrome and Terminal Safety and Operations Construction/ contractor Safety Management
Must be able to demonstrate a practical understanding of core SMS pillars.
Knowledge of various engineering or scientific disciplines (e.g., facility maintenance, construction, and maintenance etc).
EXPERIENCE
Required Experience:
Candidate should have at least 02 years Airport experience, with applied knowledge in the areas of compliance auditing, occupational health, Fire Safety, Safety Management Systems, Aerodrome Safety, Occupational Safety and Environment or related disciplines. The jobholder should have a very good command of English as well as, good leadership skills and inter-personal skills. Should be self-motivated and should be able to work under pressure. SMS Course or equivalent qualification Proven experience in the Aviation environment Proven knowledge of Aviation Legislation and ICAO Annexes, Safety Procedures Proven exposure to Safety Accident causation and prevention theory Safety margins and Human factors Risk management techniques

All staff has the following safety responsibilities and is accountable to their supervisor(s) and Head of Department:
To comply with the relevant safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Aerodrome Operations Manual and Safety Management System and any other instructions or notices issued by Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.
To comply with the safety requirements detailed within their training. To advise their Head of Department and the Airport Duty Officer team of any safety occurrence or system failure and to identify and report any situation of potential risk or concern affecting safety via one of the following means. Report directly to the Safety Department or an immediate supervisor. Submitting an Accident/ Incident Report. Support safety audits as and investigations as they occur.
