QAQC ENGINEER - CIVIL / ARCHITECTURE

THE PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary purpose of a QAQC Engineer with a focus on Architecture and Civil disciplines is to ensure that all construction activities meet the required quality standards and comply with architectural and civil engineering specifications. Their role is critical in maintaining project integrity and achieving successful outcomes in terms of safety, functionality, and aesthetics.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish and implement project-specific quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Develop and maintain quality management systems (QMS) for architectural and civil works.
• Prepare quality control documentation, including inspection test plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality checklists for various construction stages.
• Analyze architectural and civil design drawings, specifications, and material submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Verify that construction designs are aligned with local building codes and international quality standards.
• Perform regular inspections of ongoing construction works related to architecture (finishes, facades, etc.) and civil (structural, foundation, etc.) disciplines to ensure that work meets project specifications.
• Ensure that architectural finishes (cladding, painting, flooring) and civil works (concrete, steel structures, etc.) are executed as per approved quality standards.
• Monitor daily construction activities to verify that the quality of workmanship and materials conforms to the specified requirements.
• Inspect and verify the quality of construction materials such as concrete, steel, glass, and finishing materials to ensure compliance with the project's specifications.
• Review and approve material submittals, ensuring they meet architectural and civil engineering requirements.
• Oversee on-site material testing procedures (e.g., concrete testing, soil compaction) and ensure results are documented and meet standards.
• Identify and report any non-conformances during site inspections or material checks, issuing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where necessary.
• Work with the construction team to implement corrective actions and ensure that any deviations from quality standards are addressed and resolved promptly.
• Track and close out non-conformances through follow-up inspections and documentation.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all QAQC activities, including inspection reports, material test results, and NCRs.
• Prepare detailed quality reports, highlighting any issues, non-compliances, or recommendations for improvements.
• Ensure that as-built documentation accurately reflects the completed architectural and civil works, including changes and deviations from the original design.
• Prepare and submit Request for Inspections (RFIs) for completed work stages to the client or consultant.
• Ensure timely follow-up on inspection approvals and address any comments or concerns raised by the client or consultant.
• Conduct final inspections of architectural finishes and civil works before project handover, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality standard.
• Verify that punch list items are resolved before final handover.
• Compile and submit all final quality documentation, including test certificates, as-built drawings, and material approvals for project closeout.
  

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• 10 years of total experience, with a minimum of 5 years in the UAE.
• Consultant experience is mandatory, with proven involvement in managing QA/QC processes on construction projects.
• Experience in Musanada projects is highly preferred, with an understanding of Musanada's quality standards, procedures, and requirements.
• Significant experience in architecture and civil disciplines, covering structural works, finishes, and façade inspections.
• Extensive involvement in quality assurance and quality control processes from design to project handover.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and quality standards for architectural and civil works.
• Familiarity with local building codes, UAE construction regulations, and international quality standards.
• Expertise in preparing and reviewing quality control documentation (method statements, ITPs, RFIs, NCRs).
• Proficiency in managing quality inspections for both architectural finishes (cladding, painting, etc.) and civil works (concrete, steel structures, foundations).
• Understanding of material testing procedures and ability to oversee site testing (concrete, soil, etc.).
• Comprehensive understanding of Musanadas quality management system and inspection protocols.
• Proven experience in working with government projects in the UAE, particularly with Musanada (Abu Dhabi General Services Company).
• Familiarity with UAE infrastructure and high-rise building projects, particularly in overseeing compliance with local codes and standards.
