QAQC CIVIL ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The QA/QC Civil Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing the quality assurance and quality control processes for all civil works within the project. The Engineer will be involved in ensuring that all construction activities meet the required quality standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to maintain the highest quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement project-specific QA/QC plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and quality control procedures for civil works.
• Ensure that all civil construction activities comply with project specifications, local codes, and international standards.
• Review and approve civil engineering designs, material submittals, and method statements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of construction works, including concrete, earthworks, foundations, structures, and finishes.
• Oversee material testing and inspection activities, such as soil compaction tests, concrete slump tests, and rebar inspections.
• Identify and document non-conformances, and work with the construction team to implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with construction managers, site engineers, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve quality-related issues.
• Attend project meetings to provide updates on QA/QC activities and ensure alignment with project goals.
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and quality-related documentation.
• Provide training and guidance to the construction team on QA/QC best practices and civil engineering standards.
• Stay informed about the latest industry trends, standards, and technologies related to civil engineering and construction quality.
• Ensure that all QA/QC activities are conducted in compliance with the companys HSE policies and procedures.
• Report any safety hazards or incidents identified during inspections.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC roles within the construction industry, with a focus on civil engineering works.
• Experience working with a main contractor is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction techniques, materials, and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ACI, BS standards).
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with QA/QC tools and software is a plus.
• Relevant certifications in QA/QC or civil engineering (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ, PMP) are advantageous.
