Monitors the movement of medications and checks expiry dates.
Orders and receives, oversees the ordering and receipt of medications, stock, and supplies for the pharmacy; uses the department’s computer system to verify all transactions.
Assists pharmacy staff in evaluating new products and suggesting substitutions when necessary.
Inspects medications received from the store for accurate quantity, condition, batch number, and expiry; verifies that stock meets specifications and that orders are complete; resolves order issues with the store and pharmacy.
Maintains stock based on movement, tracking fast- and slow-moving medications. Investigates discrepancies in billing or quantities, and informs the pharmacist to liquidate non-moving items.
Transfers medications to the inpatient pharmacy or other hospital departments as needed. Oversees the distribution of medications by processing requisitions and stock numbers; maintains records of stock received and issued.
Maintains a clean, sanitary, and orderly storeroom.
Performs regular inventory checks of stock supplies; maintains inventory and determines redistribution actions for stored medications as necessary.
Compiles orders for purchasing and verifies receipt of orders with accounts payable.
Supervises the activities of other store assistants by directing or assigning work; may provide direction in the Supervisor’s absence.
Prepares purchase requisitions to other NMC stores and follows up with the store to arrange timely medication delivery.
Conducts physical verification of inventory using an ERP-based inventory system.
Follows up on daily medication consumption to maintain stock levels.
Informs the Supervisor of near-expiry products, slow-moving, and non-moving items.
Reconciles stock transfer reports from the main warehouse.
Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, and cooperates with hospital management to meet these requirements.
Works in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions.
Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
Notifies OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues, and assists with risk assessments and incident reports.
Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
Attends applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
