Principal Engineer - Ports & Maritime

Job Summary:We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Ports and Maritime Engineer to join our Africa & Middle East team. The successful candidate will lead complex international engineering projects, provide technical expertise, and mentor junior engineers. This role requires a deep understanding of port and maritime engineering principles, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will be able to write proposals, lead a team, deliver technical work and interface with the client technically and commerically.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of port and maritime infrastructure projects, including terminals, harbors, and coastal structures.
• Lead multidisciplinary complex projects which also include utilities and buildings
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring the highest standards of engineering excellence.
• Conduct feasibility studies, concept designs and detailed designs for new and existing projects.
• Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and construction plans.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to ensure project requirements are met.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
• Minimum of 12 years of experience in ports and maritime engineering, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
• Strong knowledge of port and coastal engineering principles, including dredging, breakwaters, and quay walls.
• Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and team members.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
