Primary Educational Supervisor
Job Description
Job Responsibilities 1. The Primary Supervisor will be responsible for embracing and fostering the ethos and standards of excellence as defined by the GEMS Core Values.
2. They will support the Head of School (HOS) and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) in implementing all staff-related policies and provide regular updates on staff needs and views.
3. Additionally, the Primary Supervisor will assist the SLT in preparing meeting agendas, following up on action points, and coordinating with other administrative staff, such as accountants and administrative officers.
4. The role also includes managing substitutions and arranging supply teachers, establishing a seamless working relationship with teachers, and coordinating with the SLT to achieve school improvement targets.
5. The Primary Supervisor will be responsible for arranging timetables, work allocations, and ensuring the optimal use of resources and facilities, such as GLG, labs, multi-purpose/activity rooms, and libraries.
6. Furthermore, the Primary Supervisor will manage long, medium, and short-term academic plans, monitor progress, and arrange regular open houses to strengthen parental ties.
7. They will address day-to-day issues raised by the parental community and conduct regular staff meetings with academic agendas to enhance coordination among teachers and grades.
8. Additionally, the Primary Supervisor will oversee external examinations and inspections, such as CASE, ASSET, PISA, PIRLS, and school-based academic evaluations. They will ensure that GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times and demonstrate commitment beyond the typical workday when required. 9.The Primary Supervisor will also attend staff meetings and serve on committees as needed, performing other duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers and supervisors.
Skills
Skills & Experience 1. The ideal candidate will possess clear communication skills, both verbal and written, competent ICT skills for presentations to staff, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent organizational skills.
2. They should have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, particularly in the primary section, and hold a bachelor's degree in any school subject or discipline, along with a professional qualification in B.Ed.
3. A strong understanding of the curriculum relevant to the position, familiarity with school inspections by external bodies such as KHDA, and knowledge of the latest trends in education and pedagogy are essential.
4. The candidate should also have a proven track record of leadership, expertise in co-scholastic areas, and proficiency in IT skills.
