Female PE Teacher Role Profile  

Purpose of Role  

The role of the PE Teacher is to plan, teach and assess physical education lessons that encourage pupils to  

develop their physical, social, and emotional skills while achieving their full potential. The teacher must  

set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge pupils, fostering a positive attitude towards  

physical activity and overall well-being. As a qualified educator, the PE Teacher will deliver engaging and  

inclusive lessons that cater to diverse abilities, build pupils’ confidence, and equip them with essential  

physical and teamwork skills. With experience teaching Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the  

teacher will ensure age-appropriate activities that support motor skill development and introduce young  

learners to the joy of movement. Proficiency in teaching swimming is essential, as the teacher will play a  

pivotal role in helping pupils build water confidence, develop swimming techniques, and understand  

water safety. They will work closely with colleagues to support school initiatives, including subject  

leadership, extracurricular activities, and inter-school competitions, promoting teamwork and school  

spirit. The role requires empathy, initiative, and a proactive attitude to create a supportive environment  

where pupils feel safe and motivated to grow. Additionally, the teacher will adapt their strategies to  

accommodate pupils with English as an additional language, ensuring equity and inclusion. The PE  

Teacher will contribute significantly to fostering a culture of excellence, encouraging lifelong engagement  

in physical activity, and supporting the school’s overall development.

PE teacher Key Responsibilities  

Requirements and duties:  





































Design and deliver dynamic PE lessons for Foundation Stage pupils and girls from Year 6  

upwards, fostering physical development, confidence, and enjoyment of physical activity.  

Develop engaging and age-appropriate activities for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) pupils,  

focusing on foundational motor skills, coordination, and introducing the joy of movement.  

Lead the planning and delivery of a school swimming programme, building pupils’ water  

confidence, teaching essential swimming techniques, and promoting water safety.  

Establish clear and achievable goals for physical fitness, skill development, and swimming  

proficiency tailored to pupils’ developmental stages.  

Lead and manage an extracurricular swimming team, organising training sessions, competitions,  

and events to encourage pupil participation and sporting achievement.  

Use effective assessment strategies to monitor progress in physical education and swimming,  

offering constructive feedback to promote individual improvement.  

Support inclusive participation by adapting activities for pupils of varying abilities, including  

those with SEND and EAL needs.  

Encourage positive social interaction, teamwork, and sportsmanship through cooperative games,  

team sports, and competitive activities.  

Maintain pace, motivation, and challenge during lessons and swimming activities to keep pupils  

engaged and progressing.  

Utilise a range of teaching methods, including demonstration, guided practice, and step-by-step  

instructions to cater to diverse learning styles.  

Manage and maintain sports and swimming equipment, ensuring a safe and engaging learning  

environment.  

Inspire pupils to reflect on their progress, set personal goals, and develop resilience, focus, and  

perseverance.  

Promote opportunities for personal growth and team success, celebrating achievements in PE and  

swimming.  

Assist in the development and refinement of the school’s PE and swimming curriculum to ensure  

high-quality teaching and learning experiences.  

Align curriculum planning and delivery with the School Improvement Plan to support pupil  

outcomes and the school’s strategic goals.  

Showcase and celebrate pupil achievements through displays, newsletters, and events to inspire  

ongoing participation and enthusiasm.  

Uphold school rules and values, maintaining discipline and fostering an inclusive, supportive  

learning environment.  

Act as a professional role model, demonstrating integrity, respect, and enthusiasm for physical  

education and health.  


















Share planning resources and collaborate with colleagues to ensure cohesive and consistent  

teaching approaches.  

Lead extracurricular sports activities, supporting broader pupil engagement in physical activity  

and competitive sport.  

Support professional development by organising or participating in training sessions and  

workshops related to PE and swimming.  

Maintain a professional appearance and approach, appropriate for teaching PE and swimming  

sessions.  

Champion the school’s ethos of promoting health, wellbeing, and a lifelong love for physical  

activity and swimming among pupils.  

Health and Safety  



Emphasise the importance of safety in all areas of the curriculum, communicating to pupils the  

importance of a responsible attitude towards personal safety, the safety of others, and respect for  

Aspen Heights British School’s property and equipment.  











Perform all playground duties on time and with due diligence to safeguard Aspen pupils.  

Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect pupils, equipment, materials, and facilities.  

Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing pupil life and conduct.  

Ensure that all necessary health and safety rules and procedures are being followed.  

Maintain an awareness of all the health and safety measures to be taken when in school.  

Skills, Qualifications and Experience  





PGCE or equivalent.  

Minimum of two years of school experience as a PE teacher.
