ABOUT THE ROLE:
Based at the Corporate Office in Dubai, the Corporate Operations Superintendent is responsible for assisting and guiding the Division’s Business Units on all operational matters.
The position is also responsible for the monitoring of standard operating procedures as they relate to safe ship operations including navigation, crewing, cargo work, and passengers in the Division.
The position is responsible for working with Business Unit General Managers / Operations Managers to improve operational systems and, where practical, standardise safe operation systems across the Division. Preparing and setting up new businesses is another key aspect of this role.
Whilst this role is based at the P&O Maritime Logistics Corporate office in Dubai, the role will involve worldwide travel, which may be required at short notice, and may involve extended periods (possibly more than 6 months) overseas. an 6 months) overseas.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operations Standards and Procedures
- Develop and maintain Operational Standards for P&O Maritime Logistics, with due regard to Divisional and vessel diversity
- Manage the implementation of the Operational Standards in the Division
- Develop, implement, and maintain Divisional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Integrated Business Management Systems
- Establish Divisional operational procedures
- Provide advice and guidance to Business Units to improve performance and develop operational experience across the Division
- Work with the Business Unit to assist in the implementation of an Integrated Operational Management scheme such as the Harbour Management System
New Projects
- Develop operational requirements for all new projects/ Business Unit expansions, as required.
- Assist in setting up of new Business Units as required
HSSEQ
- Advice to the Group HSSEQ on BU HSSEQ Compliance during BU visits.
- Maintain awareness of and promote compliance with HSSEQ Policies and procedures
- Perform Internal Audits of BUs in connection with visits, as agreed with Group HSSEQ.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master Mariner/ Chief Officer
- Sound understanding of shipboard operations and seagoing experience in a senior maritime position
- A minimum of 2-3 years shore side management experience
- Offshore and Oil industry experience
- Solid experience with shipboard safety management systems including an understanding of ISM, ISO, and ISPS code requirements
- Experience in developing and implementing plans, policies, and procedures in support of organisational strategic objectives
- ISM and ISPS internal auditor qualifications
- Preferably Spanish Speaker
