ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION


OliOli® creates experiences that enable creative, open-ended, curious and non-judgmental play for children aged 0-12. OliOli® consists of 8 galleries (each containing interactive, hands-on, open-ended, thought-provoking activities.)


Each zone has been designed to create experiences where children can:


  1. Use their hands to become better problem solvers
  1. Feel emotionally safe (through no judgment) and are able to take risks in low stakes environment to understand the consequences of their choices/actions
  1. Use technology in a responsible, measured and augmentative manner
  1. Gain fascination with STEAM curricula and concepts in a holistic, informal manner
  1. Develop their self-regulation and emotional intelligence

Embedded in the community it serves, OliOli® will be a hub for issues relevant to all parents and be a rejuvenating destination for parents.


BACKGROUND TO THE POST


Our café named La Petite Treehouse is a dedicated eatery for our guests which offers nutritious snacks and treats for any time of the day. Our vision for our café was something that was not merely a cafe, but a habitat of comfort, love and joy. It's the perfect spot for parents to grab a delicious cup of coffee, for kids to grab a snack to fuel the fun, or for families and friends to have a wholesome post-play meal. As such the space and the team working in it must reflect The OliOli®s distinctive character and values by offering a welcoming and efficient service, and an environment that appeals to the young and young-at-heart.


We are now looking for an enthusiastic Creative Chef to join us on our voyage. This is a part-time role.


POSITION OVERVIEW


We are looking for a Creative Chef who can bring imagination to the plate, crafting unique food experiences that align with our philosophy. This is a part-time role with flexible hours, based on projects, activation and special events. The ideal candidate is a culinary artist who thrives on experimentation, loves engaging with kids and families and is excited about pushing the boundaries of a playful F&B offering.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


Creative Culinary Development


  • Develop interactive, visually exciting and themed food experiences for the café , food carts and special events.
  • Curate unique sweet and savory items, inspired by OliOli® themes.
  • Experiment with textures, flavors and presentation to craft Instagram-worth dishes.
  • Creating interactive and experiential food experiences that make mealtime fun.
  • Develop seasonal and event-specific menus to complement activations and exhibitions.

Event and Activation Support


  • Develop Design interactive food carts featuring DIY elements, edible experiments and playful snacks
  • Collaborate with relevant teams to align food concepts with workshops, exhibits and seasonal events.
  • Ability to launch the experience and train the team for successful launch

Operational & Quality Standards


  • Ensure all food items meet high-quality and food safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient working environment
  • Stay updated on culinary trends and innovating concepts to continuously improve offerings.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS


  • Essential Qualification & Skills
  • Experience in creative food development, particularly in playful and creative food concepts
  • Background as a Creative Chef, Chef de Partie or in food innovation
  • Passion for experimental and visually engaging cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of both savory and sweet culinary techniques
  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on presentation and storytelling through food
  • Ability to think outside the box and create engaging multi-sensory experiences.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with teams
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Willingness to engage with guests and explain menu items, making food experiences interactive.
  • Desirable Skills
  • Experience with kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Previous experience in catering or a similar setting.
  • Certification in food hygiene or related areas.
  • Availability to work during school holidays and occasional evenings.
