• Follows all procedures and policies and demonstrates competency and proficiency as required.
• Performs testing in all the sections of the laboratory including but not limited to Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology and Blood Banking.
• Collection of specimens: verifies the identity of the patient and labels all samples according to established procedure & obtains blood specimens by skin puncture or venipuncture using appropriate technique and maintains integrity of specimens in relation to the test performed; collects and prepares body fluid specimens for testing.
• Respond appropriately to results with STAT, call results, patient waiting or timed specimens and notifies physicians of critical lab values with complete documentation.
• Review pending and outstanding reports on every shift and follow up to resolve outstanding specimens.
• Segregate and pack outsourced lab specimens according to requirement on timely basis
• Consult with other departments, referral labs as appropriate to collaborate in patient care and performance improvement activities.

• Runs, documents and analyze quality control tests, as per Department policy (when appropriate).
• Use the laboratory information system to release patient as per department policy.
• Collect data and statistics needed in the quality improvement plan for the laboratory as per laboratory manager instructions.
• Utilizes available resources to maintain and fix instruments or problem solving issues.
• Attends team meetings, and effectively orients/mentors new staff as requested.
• Participate in the CME program for the laboratory.
• Maintains confidentiality of matters relating to patients.
• Maintains the chain of command based on established policies and procedures
• Works cooperatively with team members to identify and complete laboratory administrative responsibilities and meet department goals.
• Participates in hospital/department activities to improve patient care/lab systems.
• Participate in the maintenance of appropriate accreditation by regulatory agencies. Shares new information with all team members.
• Adherence to infection control policies and protocols including the use of PPE appropriately.
