The Role
As General Counsel, you will provide expert legal guidance and strategic direction for the expanding regional sales and distribution of electric vehicles. Reporting directly to the CEO, your collaboration with executive leadership will be crucial in navigating complex legal issues, mitigating risks, and driving the Company's objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Compliance and Corporate Governance
Ensure the Company complies with all applicable laws and regulations related to the sale and distribution of electric vehicles in the MENA region.
Oversee the corporate governance function of the Company, including serving as the secretary of the board of directors.
Advise the Board of Directors and executive leadership on corporate governance matters, including board composition, director responsibilities, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Risk Management
Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks that could impact the Company's reputation, financial standing or operational efficiency.
Develop proactive strategies to minimise exposure to legal liabilities.
Contract Negotiation and Management
Oversee the negotiation, drafting and review of a wide range of contracts, agreements and legal documents including, but not limited to, licensing agreements, distribution agreements, after-sales and services contracts, property leases, employment agreements, formation of new entities and strategic partnerships.
Litigation and Dispute Resolution
Manage all aspects of litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings involving the Company.
Work closely with external legal counsel to develop effective defence strategies and resolve disputes promptly and cost-effectively.
Government Relations and Stakeholder Relations
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the automotive industry and advocate for the Company's interests with government agencies, industry associations and other stakeholders.
