Foreman Quay Responsibilities:
1.Responsible for safety, environment & discipline in work area.
2.Receive ‘Operations work schedule’ and ensure all required resources are available.
3.Receive instructions & details of cargo to be received / discharged from the shed office.
4.Ensure that the cargo being loaded / discharged is correctly recorded by the tally clerk.
5.Coordinate with the warehouse operations foreman to ascertain the order & stacking pattern of storage in the yard based on cargo type & properties.
6.During the vessel operations, maintain constant contact with the vessel foreman & the warehouse operations foreman to ensure that the flow of cargo from the vessel to the yard is smooth.
7.Maintain regular contact with the warehouse operations foreman and ensure that the forklift operators are transferring cargo from the hook to the yard in minimum possible time.
8.If there is any deviation from the plan (also includes cargo received with mixed marks or no marks), immediately highlight it to the vessel foreman and check what corrective actions can be taken.
9.In case of any traffic /congestion etc. at the quay or in the yard, coordinate with the yard foreman & the vessel foreman to appropriately adjust the speed of loading & discharge.
10.Ensure that the quay side operations team is equipped with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) before operations.
11.Engage and initiate a safety talk meeting with the team before operations.
12.Constantly inspect the work of reporting personnel (forklift operators, tally clerks & stevedores) and ensure that it is as per standard operating procedures.
13.Coordinate with the Vessel Foreman to resolve constraints faced at the time of loading / discharging.
14.Assist in identifying areas for operational improvement.
