Job Description

Role and responsibilities:


Accounting


  • Ensure accounting records are maintained, accurately reflecting the management accounting position. Scrutinising, challenging and rectifying variances.
  • Turner & Townsend operates within a SOX Compliance framework and the successful candidate will ensure controls are followed with relevant corrective action then being taken.
  • The candidate should have experience of annual statutory audits, experience of annual ICV (In Country Value) is an advantage but not essential.
  • The company is a collection of several Projects, and the successful candidate should have project accounting experience to ensure Project Profitability is managed along with Work in Progress (WIP) reports.

Reporting


  • Deliver clear & accurate reporting to timetable. Working closely with Commission Leads and the Finance Leads to ensure Management Accounts, Financial Packs & Revenue Forecasts are as accurate as possible, Cost Base forecasts are based on accurate recruitment and leaver plans and overheads are forecast.
  • The UAE & Iraq business is expanding significantly, therefore operating cash flow management will be a high priority. Cash forecasting files are maintained daily to ensure focus on debt collection and payments. The candidate will work closely with the UK debt collection team and the UAE operation to maintain positive cash.
  • Critically appraise Project Profitability, Project WIP, Time Bookings. Engaging with Commission leads to ensure corrective actions are managed and project profitability is accurate.
  • Supporting the monthly Income Statement and Cash flow forecasting and annual budgeting process. Close liaison with Commission Managers for Income Statement and cash collection objectives

Leadership and Management


  • The successful candidate should exhibit the behaviours of a future leader. It is vitally important this candidate engages with the business and has an outgoing personality. Open and confident communication with senior manages and leaders within the business is essential and it is important this individual is seen as a source of knowledge and support to the business operation.
  • Working closely and engaging with the local finance team will also be an essential part of the role. Some Finance employees require professional development, and it is expected this candidate can support the development and coaching.

Tax


  • Knowledge and experience of GCC tax laws and practices is an advantage but not essential.
  • Providing support to the Group Tax manager, based in the UK and providing support to the Financial Controller, based in the UAE.

Governance & Compliance


  • The Middle East region has been a fast-growing business, and the successful candidate will need to ensure policies and approved process are adhered to and followed. Knowledge and experience of SOX compliance governance would be a significant advantage.
  • Supporting analysis and audit of local expenditure, facilitating In Country Value submissions sand annual audits

Qualifications
  • Experience & qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant, with qualifications in either MBA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • 10 years plus post-qualification experience and with at least 3 years’ experience managing a diverse, multi-cultural teams.
  • Technically strong in supporting the business operations, ensuring conflicting pressures and heavy workloads are managed appropriately.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and be able to interact with senior management to ensure objectives are aligned.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
