Formed in 1921, the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) is the governing body for all international events in Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage, Eventing, Driving and Para Driving, Endurance and Vaulting. It establishes the regulations and approves equestrian programmes for Championships, Continental and Regional Games as well as the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
FEI promotes equestrianism in all its forms and encourages the development of the FEI equestrian disciplines throughout the world, keeping the welfare of the horse at the heart of all activities.
Today, the FEI has more than 130 members of National Federations and there are over 4,300 international events annually, including a number of FEI Championships and global FEI series. Over 120,000 athletes and horses are registered and women and men compete as equals.
Over 100 FEI staff are working in FEI’s Headquarters in Lausanne, ensuring the sport continues to grow and flourish, the rules are enforced, the results are processed, the international calendar is managed, and that the very values that are at the core of equestrian sport are safeguarded and promoted.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Reporting to the Secretary General, the Executive Director of Sport & Games will lead the strategic planning and execution of all sport and multi-sport events, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s vision and global objectives. This role provides executive oversight for bid evaluations, event delivery, and collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and organising committees, ensuring world-class execution and adherence to global standards. Additionally, the position oversees multidisciplinary teams, drives operational integration, and ensures efficient budget management to achieve FEI’s sport objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the long-term strategic planning and execution of all sport and sport games, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s vision, strategy, mission, and global objectives over a multi-year cycle. Provide high-level strategic and leadership direction throughout the bid evaluation, allocation, and approval processes, ensuring that cities and venues meet the organisation’s global standards. Act as the primary liaison between the IOC, respectively the IPC, organising committees, other sports organisations, and FEI departments, ensuring cohesive collaboration and integration of policies, objectives, and rules. Olympic Games and Paraylmpic Games delivery (qualification, coordination, format, Rules, etc) Multi-Sport Games coordination Drive high-impact operational strategies for event delivery, offering executive oversight and support to organizing committees based on the complexity and scale of the event, ensuring world-class execution. Oversee multi-disciplinary sport teams ensuring seamless communication, consistency in standards and approach and operational integration across all levels of the organisation for successful sport and multi-sport event outcomes. Provide executive-level guidance on budget planning and financial management, ensuring efficient resource allocation and cost-effective solutions to deliver on FEI sport objectives. Provide leadership oversight and ensure collaboration among the sport disciplines and the education function. Oversight of the FEI Calendar.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; an MBA or master’s degree is highly desirable. Knowledge of equestrian sport, including areas such as event management, sponsorships and sports development. Extensive experience in leading and managing teams within the sports industry or a related field, of at least +15 years. Experience working with or managing Olympic/Paralympic-related programmes Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term strategies aligned with the organisation’s goals and vision. Strong financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and drive financial sustainability. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with sensitivity, efficiency and professionalism with different stakeholders of different cultural backgrounds; Proven ability to network and build strong connections within the sports industry, including IOC, IPC, organising committees, national federations, sponsors, and media. Highly organised and capable of remaining composed under pressure. Perfectly fluent in English. Other languages are a plus. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Flexibility to travel.
