Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop a forward-thinking strategy for packaging development, innovation, and manufacturing aligned with the brand’s goals.
- Translate brand objectives into actionable plans, ensuring alignment across all packaging and manufacturing functions.
- Stay ahead of market trends, regulatory requirements, and consumer preferences to drive competitive advantage.
2. Technical Expertise in Packaging Engineering:
- Master deep knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, glass, metals, paper/cardboard, biomaterials…) and their mechanical, chemical, and environmental properties.
- Oversee the application of manufacturing and transformation processes, including but not limited to glass manufacturing, injection molding, extrusion-blowing, thermoforming, and various printing techniques.
- Conduct compatibility and stability tests (formula/packaging) and ensure compliance with different norms (ISO, GMP, FDA…) and other regulatory standards.
- Utilize advanced CAD tools (SolidWorks, KeyShot. C4D…) and lead prototyping efforts using 3D printing, digital printing and other technologies.
- Supervise industrialization projects, validating production tooling and technical feasibility.
- Ensure effective scaling of packaging designs from concept to mass production by validating technical feasibility and production tooling.
3. Innovation and Sustainability:
- Drive packaging innovation initiatives in collaboration with the Packaging Innovation team to integrate new technologies, materials, and sustainable practices (e.g., refillable, recyclable, or bio-sourced solutions).
- Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions that align with the brand's values and minimize environmental impact.
4. Industrialization Excellence:
- Define and implement robust processes for the industrialization of new packaging designs, ensuring seamless transition from R&D to manufacturing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners to optimize production workflows, reduce lead times, and achieve cost-efficient scaling.
- Oversee industrial validation activities, including trial runs, process optimization, and first production approvals.
- Develop and monitor KPIs for industrialization, such as defect rates, efficiency rates, and production scalability metrics.
5. Manufacturing Excellence:
- Oversee all manufacturing operations to ensure alignment with production timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.
- In collaboration with the QA/QC team, audit supplier facilities to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Anticipate and mitigate operational risks, ensuring continuity in the supply chain.
6. Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and inspire a diverse team across Packaging Development, Packaging Innovation, and Manufacturing.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities.
7. Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Oversee the management of multiple complex projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and cross-functional alignment.
- Partner with key stakeholders, including R&D, marketing, supply chain, product development, and quality assurance teams, to ensure seamless integration of packaging and manufacturing solutions.
8. Quality and Compliance:
- Collaborate with the QA/QC team to establish robust quality standards for packaging materials and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory, ethical sourcing, and environmental standards across global markets.
9. Financial Optimization:
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in packaging development and manufacturing without compromising on quality or brand identity.
- Monitor budgets and expenses, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
