Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled
Costing Engineer/Industrial Engineer to join our team in the
fire truck manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and controlling costs, optimizing production processes, and improving operational efficiency. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in engineering, as well as a keen eye for cost management and process improvement in a complex manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Cost Analysis & Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for fire truck production, including material costs, labor, overheads, and other associated expenses.
Analyze historical data and current production processes to predict future costs and identify cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand product specifications and ensure that cost targets are met. Ensure that all costs are allocated accurately to the correct cost centers.

Cost Control & Budgeting:Assist in preparing and managing budgets for manufacturing projects.
Monitor ongoing projects to ensure adherence to cost and budgetary constraints.
Perform variance analysis to track deviations from the budget and implement corrective actions.

Production Process Optimization:Analyze existing manufacturing processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
Identify bottlenecks and areas of improvement within the production line and develop strategies to optimize workflows. Implement lean manufacturing principles and techniques to reduce waste and enhance productivity.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:Work closely with engineering, procurement, and production teams to develop cost-effective production methods.
Provide technical support in the design phase to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness of new designs and modifications. Provide input to the procurement team on material selection to balance cost and quality.

Reporting & Documentation:Develop and maintain cost tracking and reporting systems to monitor ongoing and completed projects. Prepare detailed cost reports for senior management, highlighting cost trends, potential savings, and areas of concern. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.

Continuous Improvement:Promote a culture of continuous improvement by recommending and implementing new technologies, methodologies, and best practices in costing and industrial engineering.
Conduct time studies and process simulations to identify efficiency gains.
Monitor the impact of process changes on cost and quality, making adjustments as necessary.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor's degree in
Industrial Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering,
Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications in
Cost Engineering,
Project Management, or
Lean Manufacturing would be an advantage.
Experience:At least
3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the manufacturing or automotive industry. Experience with
fire truck manufacturing or other specialized vehicle production is a plus. Proven experience in
costing,
budgeting, and
process optimization.
Skills & Competencies:Strong understanding of
cost accounting principles and manufacturing cost structures. Proficiency in
CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
Knowledge of
lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex production data.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
