About the Job:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commis 3 to join Amara Lounge in Jumeirah Living Marina Gate. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:


Assist by catering to routine kitchen duties such as meal preparations, receiving deliveries, rotating stock, maintenance, logistics, safety, and sanitation.  Adhere to kitchen standard operating procedure in line with Jumeirah philosophy and luxury status. This is an entry level job. At this level, the job is generalized with lesser complications with focus on food preparation and some line cooking as delegated a high-level synopsis of the role, level, and scope of responsibility consisting of three or four sentences displaying a basic understanding, the “bird’s eye view” of the role. A concise summary of “why the job exists?



• Gather, measure, mix, and prepare meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings according to specified recipes and instructions.


• Wash, peel, and chop vegetables, fruits, and meats as required, ensuring all preparation meets hygiene and quality standards.


• Cut and season various meats as directed by senior culinary staff, maintaining consistency in preparation techniques.


• Prepare basic dishes such as salads and sauces as instructed, ensuring adherence to recipe specifications and plating guidelines.


• Follow established recipes and plating guides precisely to maintain consistency and quality in food presentation.


• Ensure proper stocking and organization of food items in refrigerators and freezers to maintain freshness and availability.


• Set up stations with necessary supplies and maintain cleanliness throughout service periods to facilitate smooth operations.


• Provide efficient kitchen assistance, including replenishing service lines, restocking supplies, and preparing workstations for the next shift.


• Continually develop culinary knowledge and skills to enhance the ability to produce high-quality meals and support culinary team objectives.


• Attend daily meetings with senior chefs, maintain personal hygiene standards, report equipment issues promptly, and ensure compliance with departmental policies and safety procedures. 


About You:
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:


Essential 


• High School Diploma 


Desirable 


• College Degree in Culinary Arts or similar from an accredited Culinary School. List the basic (minimum) education, certification, and/or licensing needed to be successful in the position. 


Competencies


• Proficient in English (Read/Write/Speak) 


• Expert in food quality and presentation skills. 


• Adaptability and appreciation of cultural diversity 


• Team Player with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail 


• Reliable and Sincere showing high level of energy 


• 1 year of experience in a range of kitchen areas; ideally within the luxury hospitality industry. Add the minimum number of full-time/part-time experiences needed (number of years) and the type of work experience required to be qualified for the job.
