Chief Legal Officer (crypto industry experience required)

Hiring for a large crypto-currency company in Abu Dhabi.

The Chief Legal Officer will be charged with managing the company's legal affairs, providing expert and strategic legal guidance on all matters that affect the company. They will ensure that the company operates within the law at all times, offer counsel on legal issues and risks, deal with complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas, and keep abreast of legislative changes that may affect the cryptocurrency industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and direct the company's legal functions, including regulatory compliance, intellectual property rights, contractual agreements, corporate governance, and employment law.
  
• Develop legal strategies and positions, and ensure that all practices, policies, business activities, and strategic partnerships comply with all applicable legal and regulatory frameworks.
  
• Serve as the key legal advisor on all significant business transactions, including acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  
• Manage the work of outside counsel on key legal matters, ensuring quality legal services are provided in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  
• Advise on legal aspects of the company's financing, including assessing and advising on current and future business structures and legal entities.
  
• Anticipate and identify legal issues and risks that could impact the company, and develop proactive solutions.
  
• Establish and oversee the company's compliance program to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  
• Contribute to business strategy development from the legal perspective, ensuring all strategies and initiatives are legally sound.
  
• Lead, manage, and mentor the legal department staff, fostering a departmental culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  
• Act as the primary legal contact for regulatory bodies, keeping abreast of regulatory changes that may affect the cryptocurrency sector.
  

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s in Law or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited law school.
  
• Minimum 10+ years of experience, with atleast 4+ years of experience in the related field.
  
• Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction(s).
  
• Extensive experience as a practicing lawyer, ideally with significant exposure to the cryptocurrency sector or related fields such as financial technology or securities law.
  
• Thorough knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape pertaining to cryptocurrencies, blockchain technologies, and digital assets.
  
• Proven analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to solve complex problems and navigate a rapidly changing regulatory environment.
  
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in managing a legal team.
  
• Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the aptitude for advising and influencing business leaders at the highest level within the company.
  
• Ability to provide clear and concise legal advice in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
