Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Dubai Headquarters (with travel across Sub-Saharan Africa)

We seek a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer to drive our financial strategy and operations across diverse regulatory, economic, and cultural environments.
Position Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing all financial functions, including budgeting, forecasting, risk management, capital planning, financial reporting, and compliance. The CFO will partner with country CEOs and other senior leaders to execute the company’s strategic plan, ensuring financial stability and sustainability across our lending operations. This role requires a forward-thinking executive who is adept at navigating complex regulatory landscapes, managing multi-currency operations, and driving operational efficiency in emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership

• Develop and implement overall financial strategies aligned with the company’s vision and growth objectives.
• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors on major financial decisions, capital allocation, and M&A opportunities.
• Lead long-term financial planning and scenario analyses, ensuring the business remains adaptable in rapidly changing markets.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Oversee the development of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and cash flow projections for the holding company and its operating subsidiaries. 
• Analyze financial data to identify key performance indicators and trends, making data-driven recommendations for improvement. 
• Drive cost optimization and operational efficiencies while maintaining service quality and regulatory compliance.

Capital Management & Funding

• Manage relationships with investors, banks, and other financial institutions to secure capital at competitive terms.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate capital structures and funding strategies to support growth across multiple markets.
• Monitor liquidity needs, ensuring sufficient capital is available to support lending operations and expansion initiatives.

Regulatory & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable financial and reporting regulations across diverse jurisdictions in Sub-Saharan Africa. 
• Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to maintain strong governance and robust internal controls. 
• Develop and implement effective risk management frameworks to protect the company’s assets and reputation.

Financial Reporting & Operations

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate consolidated financial statements to the Board, investors, and external stakeholders. 
• Implement and maintain financial systems, processes, and policies to streamline reporting and improve transparency. 
• Lead treasury, tax planning, payroll, and other financial operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Team Leadership & Development

• Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
• Mentor finance managers in operating subsidiaries, providing guidance on financial best practices and strategic decision-making. 
• Champion diversity, inclusion, and professional development within the finance organization.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification:

• Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA) strongly desired.

Experience:

• Minimum 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with proven track record in financial services and consumer lending, in particular.
• Proven track record working in emerging markets (Sub-Saharan Africa preferrably). 
• Demonstrated success managing multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction finance operations.

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

• Deep understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting standards (IFRS, local GAAP, etc.). 
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and ERP/financial management systems is a must. 
• Experience with capital-raising, investor relations, and M&A transactions.
