Company Description

Ghobash Trading & Investment (GTI) is actively engaged in multi-asset class investment activities across various geographies. These activities are carried out by a highly qualified and experienced in-house team of investment professionals. The team uses an ‘Asset Allocation Matrix’ to realize risk adjusted returns on invested capital over a long-term period.


The Company’s investment activities include direct investments in startups, taking stakes in established businesses, acquisitions of business enterprises and setting-up new businesses through collaborative joint venture route.


GTI is also active in private financial investments, including private equity and debt, venture capital, real estate, and publicly listed financial investments.



Job Description

Ghobash Trading & Investment (“GTI”) is a UAE family-owned conglomerate with an asset portfolio of:


  • Fully owned small to medium enterprises active in a variety of sectors (“operating companies”)
  • Companies in which the Group holds a minority stake (“direct investments”)
  • Real estate
  • Investments in 3rd party managed funds (“Funds”)

Business and Data Analyst of the Group’s will be responsible for taking full control of data management related to activities of the Investment Department.


  • Data Management – Reconcile finance figures and update the Net Asset Value (NAV) daily for listed investments and monthly for private investments. Ensure the MIS report is generated and shared daily, with figures reconciled against finance data. Accurately record all transactions related to funds, including capital calls, distributions, and sales. Prepare the cash position report as requested.
  • Business Process and Data Management Automation – Comprehension of processes related to various business activities of the Investment Department. Identification of appropriate technological solutions (either seamless or hybrid depending upon cost-benefit analysis) for automation and presenting a comprehensive comparative analysis of various solutions with clear recommendation for approval. Coordination (as Project Leader) of execution activities related to Automation Project which will involve interface with several parties from solution vendor(s), IT department, Finance department to intermediaries like brokers and banks.
  • Quarterly Management Reporting – Responsible to issue Dashboard and Quarterly Management Report within 2 to 3 weeks of each quarter end covering all the activities of Investment Department. The process will involve active liaison with internal team as well as with various fund managers and banks to collect data on NAVs of various funds and other investments to timely issue the Management Report. Assist the Finance Director in preparing the quarterly board presentation. Finalize the quarterly MIS report by the third week of the month following the quarter's end.
  • Operational Tasks – will be responsible for Middle Office tasks related to Compliance and KYC, subscription documentation, liaison with Finance department as well as with Fund Managers/Wealth Management Platforms on matters like capital remittances, distribution receipts, reconciliations of Capital Account, etc. Assist in back-office operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping and data management. Download and manage data specific to private investments from fund manager portals. (Capital Account Statement downloads, and other important documents as requested by the private team). Maintain comprehensive records of all investment fund information. Maintain the fund master file with up-to-date information.
  • Data Analysis / Research Support –will be required to support investment team with industry data and analysis, directional trends, expected scenario analysis, etc.
  • Risk Management Reporting: Prepare the monthly risk management report.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in economics/accounting with diploma/certification in analytics/computing/AI from a recognized University or Institution.

Additional Information
  • MS Office tools, especially Excel, MS BI Tools (Power Query, Power Pivot), VBA, Power BI, and Bloomberg.
  • Hands on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages.
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills.
     
  • At least 5 years post-graduate experience in an Audit or Financial Services Firm in operational and analytical. related roles, working as a Business Analyst or role of similar nature.
  • A pro-active thinker and ability to prioritize tasks is key to success to this position.
     
  • Strong analytical aptitude and highly proficient on IT skills and data analysis.
  • Strong sense of numbers and logic with ability to smell data problems/mistakes i.e., knack of an auditor.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, organize priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships across cultural and geographic boundaries.
  • Detailed attention on all subject matters.
