Responsible for overall activity of the Biomedical Engineering department.
Planning of medical equipment for existing hospitals and any new projects.
Provides domain knowledge input during the pre-purchase stage of all biomedical equipment.
Maintains a regularly updated inventory of all biomedical equipment in the hospital.
Coordinates and evaluates the work performed by service contractors, including maintenance, calibration, installation, and verification of service documentation.
Conducts and assesses safety and risk assessment together with the FMS teams and develops measures to counter them.
Prepares requisitions for spare parts procurement from stores/manufacturer.
Liaises with other departments and higher management.
Vendor management and development, particularly focusing on vendors who can repair PCBs and major assemblies that companies often replace at high costs.
Actively contributes as a member of the FMS committee to develop manuals, policies, and procedures relevant to the biomedical department.
Collects monitoring data for the medical equipment management program.
Develops and coordinates departmental quality initiatives.
Updates biomedical knowledge by attending seminars and workshops regarding new equipment.
Strictly adheres to the organization’s regulations and policies, especially those related to infection control, patient safety, HAAD, JCI, and ISO.
Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates in all quality assurance activities of the service.
Participates in scheduled in-service training programs, CNEs, CMEs, in-house activities, conferences, or other programs as requested.
Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and management.
Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
Demonstrates the ability to listen to others to promote effective communication.
Develops a thorough understanding of hospital policies and procedures and demonstrates respect for them.
Carries out other duties as requested by the Reporting Head or when required.
Complies with all OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, cooperating with hospital management to meet these requirements.
Works in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions.
Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
Notifies OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues while assisting with risk assessments and incident reports.
Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
Attends applicable OSH/infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
Ensures workplaces managed or controlled are safe and without risks to health, safety, or the environment.
Ensures implementation of applicable HAAD, NMCRH OSHMS, and infection control policies and standards.
Ensures adequate budget and resources for FMS/OSH/PCI management.
Designates a Safety Facilitator to coordinate OSH activities within the department.
Regularly discusses OSH issues in departmental/management meetings.
Ensures provision of OSH information, training, and supervision.
Implements and monitors the effectiveness of the risk management program.
