Faststream is currently searching for an Assistant Manager for container & vessel operations for a large-scale shipping line in their Dubai office.
Role Overview:
Location: Dubai
Focus: Managing container and vessel assets, improving operational efficiency across regional offices, and ensuring high standards in port turnaround times, vendor relations, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Container & Vessel Management:
Oversee container and vessel assets, managing loading, discharging, turnaround times, and maintenance. Address escalated operational issues and liaise with terminals to resolve port-related problems. Arrange transhipment onto third-party vessels to optimise container flow.
Operational Efficiency & Cost Control:
Coordinate with regional offices to monitor costs and analyse operational performance. Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives in collaboration with front offices. Manage vendor relationships, ensuring tariffs are updated in the system and facilitating annual procurement.
Asset Utilisation & Maintenance:
Track yard space usage, dwell times, and manage container repair costs. Conduct audits for depot operations, including food-grade container management, and ensure adherence to quality standards. Provide technical support and training for regional teams on container repair and recovery.
Sustainability & Green Initiatives:
Drive corporate sustainability efforts, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies. Lead CO₂ reduction projects and develop green strategies in collaboration with global headquarters. Coach stakeholders to align with the organisation’s environmental objectives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree or Diploma in Maritime Business, Business Administration, or Logistics. Strong analytical skills with experience in liner shipping and vendor management preferred. Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with excellent written and verbal communication. Proactive and independent with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
