We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher and leader for
Assistant Head of Secondary – Pastoral commencing August 2025. The successful candidate will sit on the Senior Leadership Team.
The ideal candidate will be an inspirational educator, dedicated to raising standards and enhancing student achievement within a supportive and collaborative environment. The purpose of this role is communicating the school’s vision compellingly and supporting the Head of Secondary strategic leadership alongside the day-to-day pastoral management of the school. This position will also involve establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives as well as managing staff and resources to that end. As part of a diverse and innovative community, the successful candidate will bring expertise in teaching, leadership, and professional development, and will uphold our reputation as an Apple Distinguished School.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with a Masters in Educational Leadership & Management or NPSL. Fully qualified teacher holding BEd, MEd, PGCE, QTS or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with 3 years in a middle leadership role. Committed professional who is dedicated to raising standards in alignment with the schools vision, mission and values. Outstanding practitioners and leaders with the ability to establish innovative practice amongst the teaching team built on current pedagogy and forward-thinking initiatives. Teachers and leaders with a natural desire to learn, contribute to and participate in the schools Professional Learning Community. Skilled at using digital tools to ensure that learning is enriched and relevant to complement the schools ‘Apple Distinguished School’ status. A professional who works collaboratively both within the immediate team and across the wider school community.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage the day to day running of all aspects of the pastoral life of the school. Remain accountable for all student attendance and punctuality Lead rewards and celebrations of success. Serve as designated safeguarding lead and lead all aspects of safeguarding in secondary Establish and maintain strong, positive and professional relationships through communicating openly and frequently with all stakeholders To uphold expectations by knowing, reviewing and implementing all relevant school policies- particularly those pertinent to the pastoral life of the school To contribute to evaluation processes, both internal and external. Lead the Arcadia Personal development programme Oversee the collection and analysis of pastoral data from PASS/Komodo and wellbeing data Oversight of trips/Outdoor ed. Tracking academic performance across year group (with HOYS) Leadership and quality assurance of whole school and year group assemblies Promote professional standards for staff in terms of dress and deportment Liaise with Primary for transition yr 6-7 Act as secondary Fire officer Lead on wellbeing for staff and students
