OBJECTIVE
The Accountant: VAT will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with VAT regulations, optimizing VAT processes, and supporting the organization's financial objectives. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of VAT laws and regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
VAT Compliance:
• Prepare and submit accurate VAT returns across multiple regions primarily Europe in accordance with deadlines.
• Ensure compliance with local VAT laws and regulations.
• Monitor changes in VAT legislation across European jurisdictions and implement necessary adjustments.
VAT Reconciliation:
• Reconcile VAT accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate VAT records and audit trails.
Advisory and Support:
• Provide advice on VAT implications for business transactions.
• Collaborate with departments, especially the Group Tax team, to optimize VAT recovery.
Audit and Reporting:
• Liaise with tax authorities, auditors & group tax during VAT audits.
• Provide supporting documentation to auditors for VAT-related matters.
• Prepare VAT reports for management and external stakeholders.
• Budgeting and forecasting activities for VAT-related matters.
Training and Awareness:
• Conduct training sessions to improve VAT compliance within the organization.
• Stay updated on best practices and industry trends in VAT.
Statutory Accounting Support:
• Assist with preparation of statutory financial statements in compliance with local accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
• Provide information and support with respect to the filings for VAT, Corporate income tax, and other statutory taxes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (e.g., CA, ACCA, CPA) preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in VAT accounting or indirect taxation.
• Experience in handling VAT for Europe is mandatory.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP-S4HANA, Oracle, QuickBooks).
• Proficiency in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
