The Medical Lead role in GSK is a unique opportunity for an experienced, innovative, and proactive medical professional to facilitate the understanding of the value of our medicines and vaccines, the science behind them and the public impact they can offer. This is accomplished by jointly developing and implementing the global medical strategy by providing clear guidance on strategy based on local care gaps and priorities identified during local situation analysis.
The Vaccines Medical Lead is accountable for overall medical strategy and achievement of the tactical objectives of local vaccines portfolio. This role is critical to the overall success of our key brands and in ensuring patients benefit from our advancements. They are responsible for ensuring strategic alignment with Commercial and Regional/Global Medical. They will work in a thriving team of medical business leaders where people will be inspired to drive towards achieving our goals of getting Ahead of Disease Together and positively impacting patient and population health outcomes globally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accountable for operational planning and execution of the medical activities for related assets at a local level driving effective alignment and synergy across multiple indications’ medical plans and activities where applicable.
- Extensive partnership and collaboration with global and/or regional teams within medical affairs and cross-functionally to build understanding of local landscape, market value drivers, unmet medical needs and clear communication on timelines required for success.
- Partner across the internal ecosystem and with external partners to develop medical strategy and deliver on medical plans that prioritise patient impact
- Represent medical in local cross-functional strategy meetings and workshops, and proactively offer options for innovative medical strategy.
- Gathering insights on local HCP and patient needs to inform a cross-functional product strategy.
- Leads appropriate local scientific engagement between GSK and external communities in order to advance scientific and medical understanding including the appropriate development and use of our products, the management of disease and patient care.
- Accountable for maintaining deep product and disease area expertise and maintaining a deep understanding of patient and physician interactions and clinical decision-making and impact.
- Play an active role within local TA to articulate and implement a single, unified medical strategy across the portfolio in market.
- Responsible for launch and product development at the local level, including local data and content needs for the product, indication expansion strategy in the market, etc.
- Applies sound medical governance for all activities and is accountable for medical governance oversight and sign-off for all asset indications.
- Drives the delivery of all Medical plans and activities to agreed timelines, budget, and quality standards in alignment with internal Policies/ Standards and external regulations.
- Providing medical input for the planning and implementation phases of Clinical Trials and/or non-interventional studies.
- Planning and driving the local GSK-supported/sponsored clinical trials and/or non-interventional studies.
- Reporting Adverse Events in compliance with local regulations and existing GSK procedures.

Basic Qualifications
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Have a university degree in medicine (MD)
- Having a minimum 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Understanding of the local healthcare system and the reimbursement of medicines/vaccines; Experience with market access processes
- Understanding of pharmaceutical ethics and governance, pharmaceutical compliance policies and procedures
- Experience working with external experts and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects, budgets, and interactions simultaneously
- Evidence of alignment to GSK Values, Code and standards and acts as a role model to teams, peers and matrix stakeholders.
- Excellent presentation and teaching skills and to represent GSK in a professional manner at medical, scientific and public events.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Very good command of written and spoken English
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications
Preferred Qualifications
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience with product life cycles and product launches with subsequent derivation of targeted portfolio strategies
- Proven competence in project and budget management
- Translates complex science into impactful communications that are tailored for the audience and/or articulates the value of our products clearly and concisely
- Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability and integrity
- Capability in clinical research & protocol development and be able to interact authoritatively with key stakeholders and investigators
