Senior Product Owner

Summary of the role:


In this role, the focus is on maximizing Agile team outcomes to deliver the best value to customers. Responsibilities include owning and prioritizing the product backlog, creating clear user stories, and collaborating closely with developers. Acting as the customer voice, the role ensures work meets expectations. Active participation in daily stand-ups, refinements, and retrospectives is essential, along with applying Agile best practices (Scrum or Kanban). In a scaled Agile setup (SAFe), involvement in ART-level ceremonies and alignment with the ART PM help maintain consistency across backlogs.


In this role you'll, have a chance to;


Understand, Identify and Define Customer Needs:


  • Transform the Product Manager’s high-level vision into detailed requirements, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including finance, security, operations, support, and audit.
  • Consolidate business needs into new product concepts or upgrades and develop user stories with Product Managers.

Contribute to the Product Vision and Roadmap:


  • Define and continuously evolve the product vision and business value in collaboration with business owners, Product Managers, SAFe ART Product Management, other Product Owners, and Agile teams.

Support Product Feature Definition (Scoping):


  • Lead the definition and prioritization of features and user stories with the Agile team, ensuring they align with customer needs and business value.
  • Balance feature development with technical enablers, collaborating with Architects and Engineering to sequence the architectural runway.
  • Work across teams to ensure coherent prioritization, product alignment, marketing consistency, and a seamless user experience. This includes collaborating with Business Owners, SAFe ART Product Management, other Product Owners, PMKs, UX teams, SAFe RTEs, and Architects.

Manage, Prioritize, and Communicate the Flow of Work:


  • Ensure features and user story backlogs are continuously reprioritized before each release and sprint planning session.
  • Maintain alignment with Agile counterparts and leadership through regular communication.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to ensure requirements are well-defined and ready for development.
  • Document, analyze, track, prioritize, and agree on requirements while managing changes and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Work closely with delivery teams to ensure timely development of the right functionality.
  • Support ongoing testing efforts to maintain product quality.

Participate in Agile Events: 


  • Accept stories before sprint reviews.
  • Actively engage in team coordination meetings, PO synchronization meetings, draft plan reviews, and management discussions.
  • Take part in system demos and Inspect & Adapt workshops within SAFe.
  • Contribute to the Community of Practice for Product Owners.
  • Organize and lead product demos.

Contribute to Product Promotion:


  • Provide key information & communicate value on the product, to define the Value proposition.
  • Define a succession of strategies as a product goes through its product life cycle
  • Create standard and tailor-made presentations, and demo scripts showing product value.
  • Give presentations, demos and familiarization sessions to customers and customer-facing teams (for them to perform them).
  • Participate to the preparation of key events, guaranteeing the success of product launch and follow up.
  • Contribute to RFP/RFI for the product.

  • Influences decisions within their scope of work, anticipating dependencies and consequences in complex scenarios. Contributes to cross-functional projects, proposes process improvements, and takes accountability for both individual and team commitments.
  • Works independently within the plan set by the manager, seeking guidance on more complex situations when needed.
