The Position:


The Regional Field Coordinator, WFC assists in the analysis and the assessment of relevant political, social and economic trends, guiding and facilitating the delivery of UNFPA’s Women Friendly Cities (WFC) programme.



You will report to the UNFPA Programme Analyst, WFC.

Job Purpose:


Working within a large and complex Country Office (CO) environment, you will support the effective management of UNFPA WFC activities in the areas of population and development, reproductive health and gender. Through the support of substantive analysis and assessment of political, social and economic trends, you will be responsible for the contribution to the designated regional components of the WFC programme via supporting timely and high quality delivery of outputs according to the Work Plans and UNFPAs programme procedures.



You will assist in monitoring results achieved during implementation, guiding the appropriate application of systems and procedures, and developing enhancements as required.


You would be responsible for:


  • Participating in the formulation of the implementation of the WFC programme and its regional projects, aligning with Government priorities and UNFPA programme policies and procedures. Supervising Local Equality Experts; identifying bottlenecks and providing guidance to ensure smooth implementation in the field.
  • Supporting the establishment and implementation of appropriate (financial and programmatic) monitoring and oversight mechanisms and systems including funds and budget monitoring; grants and implementing partner management (FACE and programme); field monitoring, as necessary.
  • Analyzing and interpreting the political, social and economic environment as well as programme related needs in the field, relevant to UNFPA activities, and identifying opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
  • Analyzing policy papers, strategy documents and national development plans; preparing briefs, situation/progress reports and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance formulation coordination, and programme frameworks;
  • Assessing implications of new policy developments and strategies on WFC programme execution, and ensuring their integration.
  • Establishing collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts, NGOs and other UN agencies to facilitate coordination, timely and efficient delivery of project inputs; attending to inter-agency mechanisms, when necessary.
  • Assisting in implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices, sharing these with management for future planning supporting training needs of project and implementing partner personnel.
  • Supporting the advocacy, visibility and resource mobilization strategy of the CO, by ensuring preparation of relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in related meetings and public events, engaging with donors when requested
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience: 



Education:  


Advanced degree in gender studies, health, population, demography and/or other related social science discipline.



Knowledge and Experience: 


  • Up to two years professional experience in the field of development and population activities, with experience in programme/project management.
  • Practical experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
  • Experience using office software packages and web-based management systems.
  • Working experience in humanitarian programmes is an asset.
  • Knowledge of reproductive health and/or gender and/or protection is an asset.
  • Working experience with implementing partners and NGOs is an asset.
  • Working experience with an international organization is an asset.
  • Familiarity with UN procedures and working methods is an asset.

Languages: 


Fluency in both written and spoken English and Turkish is required.
