Overview
As a Manager of Content Strategy & Analysis, you will be joining the team responsible for developing and implementing content strategy across WBD’s global streaming portfolio, evaluating content performance and trends, and providing insights and recommendations to leadership to influence decision making. This role requires a high level of collaboration with partners across WBD – the right person for this role is the kind of person who obsesses over details, thrives in ambiguity, and jumps at the opportunity to take on new challenges. The Manager position will play a key role in supporting relationships across teams and delivering high quality work in one of the highest priority business initiatives at Warner Bros Discovery.
Scope
- Key point of contact and support for Turkish team and lead for the CS&A function for MENA reporting to the CS&A Director for DACH, CEEMENA.
- Turkey (expected to have 1.6M subs and $40M revenue in 2025 with the full integration of BluTV and Max launch) and MENA (expected to reach 6M subs and $120M streaming revenue by 2030) are currently priority regions for the next wave of max EMEA launches.
- This role plays a crucial part within the wider Turkey content team driving and implementing Turkish content strategy (key market in terms of volume of local productions and investment), as well as managing content performance and analytics, working in close cooperation with top leadership (Head of Original Productions, Acquisitions and Regional GM).
- The Turkey Manager will support the content team with a content budget of $25M and give critical advice on how to spend it to optimize our content offering, defining how Max will look to consumers in the country.
Responsibilities
- Lead key content forums in the country, including performance and business reviews, and be the single source of truth for anything content performance in all other cross functional meetings.
- Develop with the Head of Original production the Turkey content strategy reporting directly to the CS&A Director for DACH CEEMENA, leading end-to-end strategic process for the country and delivering results that will feed into our Global Streaming Strategy.
- Help lead development of global frameworks and analyses for assessing key strategic questions facing the business, including such areas as:
- Evaluating how much and what type of content to invest in
- Identifying content performance indicators and trends
- Assessing title and portfolio level performance
- Partner with Head of Original production and drive green light analysis for original titles in the country, presenting at PIC for approval from of the Streaming CFO and CEO.
- Conduct deal valuation for licensed content, determining our willingness to pay and delivering recommendations to the Content, Acquisitions Teams and Regional GM.
- Drive in close cooperation with content acquisitions leads and country content licensing strategies to maximize return and drive profitable growth.
- Develop and implement benchmarking systems and processes to support analyses and recommendations.
- Clearly and efficiently communicate to partner with, teach, influence, and/or manage internal stakeholders and external peers based on the work to build the tools and processes necessary to drive strategy and analysis initiatives.
- Develop strong relationships within partner organizations and support Content and other DTC teams in understanding current performance on the platform, connecting content insights to business opportunity.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of industry trends and competitive activity, becoming an expert on high impact areas.
- Proactively identify strategic opportunity areas, drive elements of project management of key initiatives and independently “manage up” and raise to managers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics or other relevant field that demonstrates extensive quantitative orientation.
- 6+ years of work experience, including 3 years in top management consulting, investment banking, private equity, hedge funds and/or Corporate Strategy; ideally experience in a content strategy role in streaming or media and entertainment.
- Must be fluent in English and Turkish. Arabic will be perceived as an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills and financial modeling capabilities, with a deep attention to detail.
- Experience in building executive-level materials, with a keen eye for presentation design, and the ability to distill complex concepts and analyses into clear, easy-to-understand presentations.
- Passion for entertainment, love for content and avid viewer, as well as a passion for staying on top of industry trends while figuring out what the future will look like with a relentless focus on creating and improving consumer value.
- Collaborative and diplomatic by nature, but also willing to take and defend data- and analysis-backed positions in the ongoing process and dialogue around content selection.
- High level of soft skills, we are looking for a relational and communicative person, how is a team player.
- Deep knowledge of the Turkey content and entertainment industry.
