Job Description
Gilead Sciences, Inc. is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. With each new discovery and investigational drug candidate, we seek to improve the care of patients living with life-threatening diseases around the world. Gilead’s therapeutic areas of focus worldwide include HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, cancer, cell therapy and inflammation, and serious respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Turkish affiliate and be part of the Leadership Team. This role will report to the General Manager, and he/she will be based in our office in Istanbul, Türkiye. This role will lead and manage the delivery of critical Commercial Operations for Turkiye Affiliate including Analytics & Insight, Sales Analytics & Operations, Digital & Innovation, and Trade Operations. This individual will manage a team of individuals focused on the above areas.
Specific Job Requirements
Uses broad strategic thinking to analyze the characteristics of the business environment and its opportunities and challenges for Gilead.
Utilizes high level of business acumen in analyzing and coordinating activities from identified industry trends, competitor’s resources and practices.
On a project basis responsible for business development in the new therapeutic areas.
Manages the full team of Commercial Operations for Türkiye including driving their development, business delivables, resource allocation and performance.
Provides strategic marketing guidance across various therapeutic areas in order to build strong brand perceptions and sales performance.
Leads cross-functional projects focused on the design and delivery of marketing and sales strategy, communication and tools in order to improve affiliate´s performance, help to strengthen marketing capabilities of peers and visibility to senior management within the organization focusing on omni channel strategy and implementation and digital innovation.
Provides guidance on relevant human resource management issues (e.g. performance management, salary and compensation planning, incentives and reward, recruiting and hiring procedures, disability provisions etc.).
Coordinates business planning and sets territory targets, recommends customer targeting strategies and territory business plans with input and liaison with other relevant managers and functional departments, as appropriate.
Establishes and drives forecast planning, manages operating budgets and oversees expense management processes.
Ensures monitoring systems are in place and being managed effectively in order to evaluate sales force effectiveness e.g. Company CRM databases.
Develops & implements innovations to operational processes to increase effectiveness of Commercial, Marketing and Supply functions. Examples of processes include:
Physician coverage, targeting, demand and supply planning operations, market and competitor benchmarks, Sales Force deployment and structures, Sales Incentives design and implementation
Regularly meets with executives, major internal customers, and/or strategic partners to report analytical findings or projections on forecasting, inventory management, salesforce effectiveness or other performance indicators.
Cooperates well within Gilead matrix organization - Medical Manager, Market Access Manager, Logistic Manager, Finance manager, Business Conduct and Legal Managers etc. including commercial BUDs, Marketing and Sales Managers to maximize business opportunities
Independently makes evaluations of how the department can best support other groups.
Benchmarks and compares Gilead sales forces with direct competitors on productivity parameters, customer service, compensation levels and overall performance including other activities tailored towards improving SF Effectiveness.
Responsible for selecting, reviewing, recommending primary and secondary market research agencies, proposing MR projects and implementation steps based on MR results.
Ensures budgets and Brand POA schedules meet corporate requirements.
Supports GM in developing business frameworks and related analytical processes based on the needs of the Company’s senior management, Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Finance functions to strengthen business performance and identify opportunity areas.
Knowledge and SKill Sets required
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required in order to provide clear and concise analysis of quantitative and qualitative concepts.
Strong data analytics skill set and proficiency with data tools to develop data based recommendations and insights.
Must have excellent marketing & sales knowledge.
Must have strong interpersonal and relationship building skills along with influencing and negotiating skills.
Prior People Management skills is preferred.
Is familiar with industry trends and remains current with competitor’s resources and practices.
Must be able to analyze highly complex data and put together concise reports while meeting all deadlines.
Must be able to develop, maintain, and utilize a high level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products
Must have an extensive understanding of relevant marketplace for their role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Power BI and other analytics Gilead tools,
Must be fluent in conversational and written English.
Education and Experience Requirements
University degree, 10-20 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare industry experience, preferably in commercial operations function including MR, SFE, digital marketing and supply chain.
