Basic Function
Provides patients with urological care, including diagnosis, pre- operative care, all major and minor operative procedures in the field of urology and post-operative treatment. Provides preventive care of patients according to approved procedure as part of an integrated program of curative and preventive services.
Scope Incumbent is a urologic surgeon who provides consultation & attending care including care for complicated cases which are within their competence. Work is performed primarily at the JHAH but as assigned at District Clinics. Incumbent is under the general professional and administrative supervision of the Chief Surgeon.
However, theHead Urologist provides day-to-day work direction and supervision, including assignment of duties, scheduling, on-the-job review of actual work performed and technical advice on work related problems and performance review.
Principal Contacts Has daily contact with patients and relatives concerning urologic surgery. Routine contacts are made with other medical specialists, physicians and nurses in conducting the duties of the position
Principal Duties
- Provides comprehensive and diligent urological care to all assigned patients, including pre- and post-operative care and such urological procedures as are within incumbent's competence.
- Performs professional duties at district clinics at which out- patient urological care is to be rendered to patients as assigned
- Provides consultation services to physicians and other surgeons and specialists, on in/outpatient cases assigned to incumbent
- Assumes afterhours responsibility for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized
- Refers to specialists or consults with them on those cases which are beyond his skill or experience
- Adheres to the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals.
- Consults with the anesthetist on the choice of anesthesia to be used
- Maintains complete and accurate records of all assigned cases
- Consults with the Chief Surgeon when considering a patient for repatriation or out-of-Kingdom referral.
- Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences and rounds
- Performs other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the Chief Surgeon.
- Adapts to team work in the Surgical Services Division in JHAH.
- Provides educational experience for surgical ward physicians and Saudi Professional Development Physicians.
Experience Two (2) or more years exclusive practice of urology since certification
Certifications/Other requirements as applicable
- If Medical School education was received in a language other than English, applicant must demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the Chief of Staff, Medical Operations the ability to communicate well on a professional level in English.
- Must be able to accept administrative direction and professional guidance, and must be able to adjust to group practice in an industrial environment.
