Urban Planning Specialist - RFP

We are seeking a seasoned Urban Planning Specialist with over 15 years of experience to lead and manage a Technical Office for Urban Planning on a two-year engagement. The selected candidate will oversee and coordinate all technical aspects of urban planning projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and adherence to local and international planning standards. This role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, providing expert technical guidance, and ensuring the successful delivery of urban planning initiatives.

• Technical Office Leadership:

  
  
  • Establish and manage the Technical Office for Urban Planning, ensuring smooth operations and delivery of project objectives.
  • Oversee technical documentation, reports, and deliverables related to urban planning projects.
  • Develop and implement processes and workflows for the Technical Office to ensure efficiency and quality.

• Strategic Urban Planning:

  
  
  • Provide expert advice and direction on urban development strategies, zoning regulations, and land use planning.
  • Ensure all urban planning activities align with the client’s vision and regional development goals.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide recommendations for urban planning designs and policies.

• Coordination and Collaboration:

  
  
  • Liaise with government authorities, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with planning standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and architectural teams to integrate multidisciplinary perspectives into planning initiatives.

• Project Oversight:

  
  
  • Monitor the progress of urban planning projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Resolve technical challenges and provide innovative solutions to complex urban planning issues.

• Data Analysis and Reporting:

  
  
  • Analyze urban data, demographic trends, and environmental factors to inform planning decisions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders.

• Compliance and Standards:

  
  
  • Ensure all projects comply with local, regional, and international urban planning regulations and standards.
  • Promote the application of sustainable and innovative planning practices.

• Education:

  
  
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Certification in urban planning (e.g., AICP, RICS) is preferred.

• Experience:

  
  
  • 15+ years of professional experience in urban planning, with a focus on managing technical offices or similar functions.
  • Proven track record in delivering large-scale urban planning projects, preferably within the Middle East region.

  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other urban planning tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilize urban and environmental data effectively.
