Technical Director

The main purpose of the Technical Director’s job is to lead all plant operations to the efficiency and effectiveness of all Technical Department’s resources (HR and non-HR). This includes planning, overseeing, directing, and controlling.

General:

• Develops the Technical Department budget, and ensures that Production, R&D, and Maintenance have the appropriate resources (human and material) to execute their job properly and achieve their targets
• Participates with the CEO and the rest of the Top Management team (e.g., Sales Director, Marketing Manager, CFO) in the development and execution of strategic initiatives that support the growth strategy of the business including resources (people, equipment, tools) needed to support current business (production, testing, sampling)
• In coordination with the R&D Manager supports Marketing and Sales in the development of product planning, catalog management, and new product development, especially when the new products are driven by new technologies
• Leads, directs, and controls all aspects of the plant's day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency and performance, in accordance with the strategy and objectives defined by the CEO
• Suggests new technological developments in the plant to enhance production efficiency and/or quality, and to meet new products requirements
• Oversees the installation of equipment and systems within the manufacturing facility
• Identifies and tracks KPIs for the Technical Department, and develops plans and initiatives for improvement
• Leads directs, evaluates, and develops team to ensure that the department’s strategies and objectives are achieved
• Is responsible for the performance appraisal and succession planning of all direct reports
• Identifies possible successor for self
• Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his/her direct supervisor

Production:

• Develops and oversees the execution of manufacturing schedules (2-week production plan), and makes sure it is aligned with the expectations of Sales and Planning
• Ensures the optimal utilization of the plant capacity in line with companies policy on produce-to-stock and Produce to Order
• Develops initiatives, methods, and processes to minimize general manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and invested capital
• Manages work priorities and allocates resources to meet the assigned factory timelines and goals and to ensure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring acceptable quality levels
• Reduces production stop times to the minimum by providing better production solutions that suit the situation of the factory, manufacturing process, and product

Quality:

• Plans and achieves production targets with the required quality standards
• Ensures that in-process inspections are systematically and accurately carried out
• Ensures that the finished goods quality meets and exceeds the international and internal standards, and specific requirements agreed upon with the customers
• Ensures that sorting and grading are done accurately according to internally set standards so that no sub-standard products are sent to customers

Maintenance:

• Ensures proper planning and execution of all preventive and corrective maintenance activities in the plant, with the aim to minimize manufacturing system downtime, and ensure that all manufacturing assets are well maintained and used
• Reacts to all mechanical, electrical, and automation failures and makes sure that Maintenance has taken all actions to correct the situation and prevent its reoccurrence.
