Job Purpose:The Site IT Administrator is responsible for managing, supporting, and maintaining all IT infrastructure and services on a construction site. This includes overseeing the setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, network systems, and communication tools essential for day-to-day operations. The role ensures that all technology-related resources are operational and secure, enabling smooth project execution and communication between site personnel and headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:IT Infrastructure Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain IT equipment such as computers, servers, printers, networking devices, and other hardware used on the construction site.
- Set up, manage, and troubleshoot the local area network (LAN) and internet connectivity on-site, ensuring reliable access to necessary resources.
- Oversee the configuration and management of communication systems, video conferencing, and other collaborative tools.
User Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide on-site technical support to site staff, resolving issues with hardware, software, or network connectivity.
- Respond promptly to IT-related issues or requests, troubleshooting and providing solutions to ensure minimal downtime for site personnel.
- Train and support users on IT systems and software applications, ensuring they are effectively using the tools provided.
System Security and Maintenance:
- Implement security protocols and ensure that systems are protected from unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats.
- Regularly update and patch software and operating systems to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Monitor the network and systems for potential security breaches, ensuring data protection and compliance with Worley policies and regulations.
Data Management and Backup:
- Ensure the integrity and security of data stored on-site, including backups of critical files, databases, and project documentation.
- Perform regular backups of site systems and servers to prevent data loss.
- Manage data storage solutions, ensuring adequate space, accessibility, and security for all files.
Software and Licensing Management:
- Install and update software applications required for project management, design, and other construction-related tasks.
- Track and manage software licenses and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Support the installation and configuration of specialized construction software, project management tools, and document control systems.
IT Equipment and Resource Procurement:
- Assist in the procurement of IT hardware and software, ensuring that necessary equipment is available for the site team.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment, ensuring proper allocation and tracking of resources.
- Manage the setup of IT equipment for new hires or project teams as needed.
Network and Communications Management:
- Monitor and maintain the site’s wireless network, ensuring reliable and secure communication between different parts of the site and with off-site teams.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues related to both wired and wireless systems.
- Ensure that internet and email access is functional, and coordinate with external vendors for broadband or satellite connections if required.
Collaboration with Head Office IT Teams:
- Liaise with the company’s central IT department to ensure the integration of on-site systems with headquarters' infrastructure.
- Coordinate with IT teams for software updates, remote troubleshooting, and sharing of best practices.
- Ensure proper data synchronization between on-site and central systems for efficient reporting and project tracking.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of IT systems, configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Report regularly on IT system performance, incidents, and resolutions to the Site Manager and IT Manager.
- Document hardware and software inventories and assist in planning for future IT resource needs.
