What this job involves
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses. Develop and maintain cost plans throughout project lifecycles. Advise on procurement strategies. Prepare bills of quantities and tender documents. Evaluate tenders and negotiate with contractors and suppliers. Monitor and report on project costs and variations. Prepare valuations for interim payments and final accounts. Advise on contractual claims. Perform risk and value management. Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards. Lead and manage a team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior members. Facilitate effective communication within the team to ensure alignment on project objectives.
Desired qualifications, skills and experience for this role
Excellent pre and post contract technical cost and commercial management skills. Articulate in written and oral communication. Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field. Professional membership with RICS or equivalent body (MRICS preferred). Minimum 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a senior role. Experience preferably in the Middle East but not essential. Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office suite. Hardworking, proactive individual with a strong desire to learn and progress with an eye for detail and a passion for high standards. Excellent prioritization and self-management skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills. Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
Key Competencies
Experience with various forms of measurement and cost control techniques. Thorough understanding of construction contracts and procurement methods. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Strong commercial awareness and business acumen. Experience in managing client relationships and expectations. Capability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Strong knowledge and track record in the application of IT based solutions.
