What this job involves

• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
• Develop and maintain cost plans throughout project lifecycles.
• Advise on procurement strategies.
• Prepare bills of quantities and tender documents.
• Evaluate tenders and negotiate with contractors and suppliers.
• Monitor and report on project costs and variations.
• Prepare valuations for interim payments and final accounts.
• Advise on contractual claims.
• Perform risk and value management.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.
• Lead and manage a team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior members.
• Facilitate effective communication within the team to ensure alignment on project objectives.

Desired qualifications, skills and experience for this role

• Excellent pre and post contract technical cost and commercial management skills.
• Articulate in written and oral communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field.
• Professional membership with RICS or equivalent body (MRICS preferred).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
• Experience preferably in the Middle East but not essential.
• Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office suite.
• Hardworking, proactive individual with a strong desire to learn and progress with an eye for detail and a passion for high standards.
• Excellent prioritization and self-management skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Fluency in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.

Key Competencies

• Experience with various forms of measurement and cost control techniques.
• Thorough understanding of construction contracts and procurement methods.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
• Experience in managing client relationships and expectations.
• Capability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge and track record in the application of IT based solutions.
