ROLE OVERVIEW



The Senior Manager - Professional Practices is responsible for Manages the Quality Function, responsible for the development and implementation of the Internal Audit (IA) Department’s Internal Audit methodology and Quality Assurance and Improvement Program (QAIP). To enable the Department to deliver consistent and continually high quality and efficient services across NEOM.



ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES


The Senior Manager - Professional Practices’ responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:


Technical Skills


  • Manages the delivery of the Department’s QAIP, which incorporates the requirements of Internal Audit Standards, and provides in-flight advice and assurance over the quality of all internal audit services, enabling continuous improvement of the IA Department and its processes and procedures.
  • Manages the delivery of the Department’s Strategy, which includes actions to address significant findings from the QAIP, and other relevant inputs.
  • Leads the communication of the QAIP results to senior stakeholders.

Ownership and Drive


  • Supports the IA Excellence Director with the development and periodic update of the Department’s strategic plan, including the strategic initiatives for achieving the plan.
  • Ensures appropriate progress monitoring of the strategic initiatives, designed to deliver the strategic plan.
  • Owns the risk register which identifies the key risks to the achievement of the Department’s objectives, and leads the development of response plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Continually updates knowledge of latest IA global best practice (through proactive networking, participation in benchmarking opportunities and online research), and identifies enhancements to the Departments IA practices for incorporation into the IA Strategy (as appropriate).
  • Oversees the delivery of events to share the leading IA practices (including the NEOM Internal Audit Network, Global Internal Audit Conference, etc).
  • Shares knowledge across NEOM’s IA Department, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with IA peers to ensure that resources are shared where necessary, leveraging key strengths from across the Department, to support efficient and high-quality delivery of the overall IA plan.
  • Constructively challenges peers to ensure that NEOM IA Department performs at its optimal level.
  • Recognizes, rewards and celebrates collaborative behaviour across the Quality and IA Operations Team and IA Department.

Engagement Delivery


  • Ensures that a consistent approach to risk assessment is applied across IA teams.
  • Manages the collation of the annual plans for IA Teams and other activities (including the Quality and IA Operations teams), and the conversion of these into a plan that meets NEOM’s requirements.
  • Manages the consolidation of follow-up reporting to present an overall picture for NEOM, as well as at the Division levels, for use with senior stakeholders and the AC.
  • Manages processes to ensure that the Department’s annual plan is effectively resourced (including selection and oversight of external resources) on an ongoing basis.

Departmental Leadership


  • Role model NEOM Values demonstrating effective leadership to all NIA team members.
  • Support effective team working by providing leadership, performance guidance, and support across the team through coaching, feedback, and mentoring, making sure that Managers and Leads are managing and leading in ways that ensure effective utilization, growth, and staff engagement.
  • Understand and proactively manage IA leading practices and support the evolvement of NIA into a world-class audit department.

Policies and Procedures


  • Leads the development and periodic update of the Department’s policies and procedures (including the IA methodology and IA Delegation of Authority), the scope of which will cover all relevant activities above. 
  • Manages activities to ensure that all members of the team, including service providers, are familiar with the Department’s policies and procedures. 
  • Manages the maintenance of the audit management system to drive conformance to the Department’s procedures. 
  • Undertakes all relevant activities above in line with these policies and procedures. 

Promote Corporate Governance


  • Manages the provision of collateral to IA Head of Departments to facilitate impactful communication to platform senior management, through tailored reporting and insights (e.g. Department and NEOM wide themes, trends and benchmarking), which enable pragmatic business change and align with NEOM’s strategy. 
  • Collaborates with the IA Head of Departments to build and sustain independent and objective relationships with other assurance and consulting service providers, including the development and implementation of an aligned assurance framework.  
  • Develops relationships across NEOM and externally, to enable effective knowledge sharing within Internal Audit and NEOM.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • 10+ years of experience in progressive and more complex senior-level roles, preferably with experience leading a range of internal audit activities.  
  • At least five years of managing internal audit teams.  
  • Additional relevant experience is an advantage. 
  • Ability to influence, communicate and lead discussions with Platform Chiefs and Sector Heads and senior-level management.
  • Proven ability in leading internal audit teams. 
  • In-depth knowledge of governance, risk and control frameworks and concepts, and the IIA’s International Professional Practices Framework.
  • Strong relationship management skills, based on credibility, rapport and trust.
