ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Manager, Environment and Sustainability is responsible for developing and implementing environmental and sustainability strategies that align with NEOM Operations’ and corporate objectives and regulatory requirements. This role includes ensuring adherence to environmental laws, sustainability standards, and corporate standards. The incumbent will lead initiatives to drive sustainability performance, manage environmental risks, and enhance compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) frameworks. The role also includes oversight of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) reporting on behalf of the Resource and Waste Management Department as well as acting as Business Continuity champion.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
Environmental & Sustainability Strategy
- Develop and implement NEOM Operations’ sustainability strategy, aligning it with corporate goals and regulatory frameworks.
- Establish and oversee Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) including associated CESMP and OESMP, carbon footprint reduction plans, and resource efficiency initiatives.
- Establish and oversee required permits for applicable activities such as waste management facilities and water treatment facilities.
- To assess the environmental and sustainability impacts of proposed projects within NEOM Operations and provide expert advice to help the project meet expected outcomes.
- Monitor and report on sustainability performance metrics, ensuring alignment with global ESG standards.
- Champion sustainable business practices, including circular economy initiatives, energy efficiency, and waste management programs.
Compliance
- Proactively identify compliance risks and implement strategies to mitigate these risks while enhancing operational resilience.
- Establish and oversee systems for collecting and analyzing environmental, compliance and risk data, providing regular reports and recommendations to leadership on compliance performance and risk exposure.
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ESG frameworks, GRI, CDP, TCFD).
- Develop and maintain risk management frameworks for environmental sustainability and climate-related risks.
- Work with internal teams to assess regulatory risks and implement controls.
- Lead internal and external sustainability audits and reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives within NEOM Operations’ sphere of services.
- Contribute to NEOM ESG reports, disclosures, and regulatory filings, ensuring transparency in sustainability performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Community and Corporate Services, Facilities Management, Utilities, procurement) to integrate sustainability into NEOM Operations’ strategy.
Leadership & Innovation
- Lead a small team of professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Stay up to date with emerging sustainability trends, policies, and technologies, identifying opportunities for innovation.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 10+ years of experience in waste management, environmental management, sustainability strategy, including compliance responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in environmental science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- Relevant certifications in compliance management or environmental auditing
